Abbey & Sib’s Romantic McConnell House Wedding

Abbey and Sib had a sweet and romantic wedding on New Year’s Day 2012 in a not-so-traditional venue — the McConnell House in Franklin, an old county jail that’s been transformed into an amazing event space. After just a few weeks of planning, the cute young couple was able to pull off a gorgeous celebration complete with touches that reflect the two of them, from the blue roses and comfy Toms shoes to the “Ford Bronco of Abbey’s dreams” which has an amusing story of its own (you’ll find out below!)

Luckily we’ll be able to witness their celebration today through Evin Photography‘s lovely images.

A few words about the wedding from photographer Evin Krehbiel:

Abbey & Sib were married at the McConnell House in Historic Downtown Franklin, TN. This venue – once a Franklin jail – has been completely transformed into an epic event space with exposed brick, detailed iron work, and rich hard woods, setting the perfect backdrop for their wedding ceremony & reception! Abbey has piercing blue eyes which popped next to the colorful flowers. The accents of blue roses (Abbey’s favorite) provided by Beth’s Bouquet’s and the borrowing of a white Ford Bronco (another Abbey favorite) made this day an absolute fairy tale for this bride. What a better way to ring in the New Year than to celebrate Abbey’s parent’s 30th Anniversary & create she and Sib’s own special day which they will forever share.

Could these two be any cuter??? Beautiful Abbey is luckily on hand to tell us more about her and her sweetie and their wedding:

Sib and I met on June the 22nd of 2010. We knew each other for about a month and then we were already talking about marriage!  He was every thing I had dreamed of in a man! He was a film student at Kansas University so after the summer was over he left and we began a long distance relationship. 🙁 We learned a lot in that year but we didnt want to be apart anymore so he moved back in May and we started to realize that what we had was real. On my birthday in September 2011 he asked me to marry him and I said YES!! From then on we had been trying to pick what day we were going to get married. I have always wanted to get married on my parents anniversary, January 1st but that was only 2 months away so we flip-flopped between the 1st of January or June the 22nd. Finally, halfway through October we picked the first and went for it!!

The wedding was beautiful and exactly what we wanted. I didn’t have much time so I let all my bridesmaids pick out their own dresses.  I didn’t want them to have to worry about the dress I picked being to expensive or not fitting right, I wanted every one to be comfortable.  Ever since I can remember I have wanted a wedding with blue roses and they are really hard to find! But on my birthday in 2010, Sib bought white roses and tried to dye them blue and suprised me! That is how I knew he was my man!!

So because of that Sib and I were the only ones with blue roses, if you look close everyone else has white! Beth’s Bouquets was responsible for our beautiful flowers.

I asked everyone who was going to have to buy shoes for the wedding to please buy Toms and most every one did — it was awesome!!

We also did a cool thing where he had all the dads (there are 3) read us a bible verse that they would want us to hear and take with us to help us through our marriage. That was probably my favorite part (other than the fact that I was getting married)!

Our wedding day was also my parents’ anniversary so we got them a cake with their picture on it!

As for the Bronco, let me tell you a little about that.  When I was in middle school I went to school at the factory and every day we would drive through downtown. And there it was every day — the Bronco of my dreams!!!  The guy who owns it is a dentist and like 2 weeks before the wedding I ran into his office and asked him if he would mind parking it behind the McConnell House on the day of our wedding . 🙂

As for our mood or theme, I would say “young love”. I really didn’t get to be too picky about the details while planning considering we only had a month but I did add my touches to it! I think the biggest thing for us was trying to help people see that yes, we are young but we truly do love each other with everything we have.

Our wedding was the best day of my life everything about it was special to me.  All of our families came even though it was a holiday and we had a blast!

  1. What a beautiful wedding! Would you please tell me where you found your Toms? I looked online and was only able to find the ivory glitter wedges. Thank you so much for your help!
