Lauren & Parker’s Bright and Happy DIY Farmer’s Market Wedding
A unique celebration brimming with personal touches? Vibrant colors and creative DIY elements? A so-in-love bride and groom and shiny, happy guests? Check, check, check! Lauren and Parker’s wedding was indeed very special and I couldn’t be more delighted to share it with all of you today. I LOVED it at first glance and I know you will too.
This fabulous feature was made possible through the talents of Katie Snyder Photography (who also gave us the super-sweet Notebook-themed e-session). Here’s Katie’s recap of the day:
Lauren & Parker’s wedding day was so special because it was filled with things that they love and that was special to them. The couple got married at the private residence of a close family friend. Because they were on a limited budget, they made and did several things themselves. Instead of a typical “favor” for their wedding guests, they constructed their own version of a farmer’s market and their guests were able to choose things like flowers, honey, tomatoes and fresh eggs to take home with them. It was truly a special and memorable day.
How funky are Lauren’s mary janes?
Lauren is positively glowing in these photos! Here she is to share their cute love story:
Parker and I met in the summer of 2009 and began courting less than a month after meeting. It wasn’t love at first sight, but it was friendship. A very good friendship that deepened into love. We started our relationship on a hike by the Chattahoochee River and have enjoyed going on many hikes throughout the last few years. Actually Parker took me back on a hike to the Chattahoochee River when he asked me to marry him, so it holds many sweet memories for us.
We are now living in Atlanta and enjoying married life!
Don’t you just love bright, happy colors in a wedding?
Such a sweet couple!
Loving everything so far? Our lovely bride is back to give us a behind-the-scenes look at their wedding planning:
I’ve always wanted an outdoor wedding. After searching for weeks, my mom and I remembered Story Farm, a charming old farmhouse with rolling pastures belonging to my grandfather’s best friend. The farm was perfect –- more beautiful than I had remembered! I was immediately granted permission to have my wedding at the Story Farm. It was such a treasure to be able to have my wedding at the farm that held so many sweet memories for my family.
I decided to theme my wedding around a day at a Southern Farmer’s Market. I love the colors and the vintage feel, and because I was on a tight budget the thought of using old boxes, tools, homemade signs, etc. made me realize that I could actually have a beautiful and fun wedding. Ultimately, I think my wedding had more of a Vintage Southern feel than a Farmer’s Market feel, but I loved it!
Get ready for a flurry of cuteness from this adorable pair!
Almost everything was DIY-ed by the couple’s friends and family which just goes to show how well-loved these two are.
My friends and family set up all of the décor for our wedding, and many of the decorations came from our church. So many friends pitched in to make my wedding perfect and I cannot thank them enough!
For our wedding décor we used farm tools (compliments of Granny and Granddaddy), an old wagon (compliments of the Story family), hand-painted signs made by my friends, and flowers purchased from Publix to decorate the tables.
Everything looks so deliciously fresh! What a great idea to send guests home with farm produce!
And now, sage advice from Lauren:
You truly can have an incredible wedding on a tight budget – I lacked for nothing! If you think you might need help, ask your friends and extended family for it! They are more willing than you would expect.
Also, make certain that you have someone to coordinate your wedding and reception. Hire someone if it is in your budget, or ask a trusted and organized friend. You won’t regret having a wedding coordinator!
Lastly, enjoy the day and appreciate the hard work that helped to make your day so beautiful. You’ll want to remember this day forever.
A big thank you to Katie for sharing this gorgeous celebration with us, and congratulations to Lauren and Parker! Thank you for allowing us a peek into your special day!
