Kristin & Kevin’s DIY, Vintage Cameras, and S’mores Garden Wedding

I am delighted to share yet another fully-loaded wedding feature today! Lovebirds Kristin and Kevin had a beautiful and immensely creative wedding filled with loads of love and rustic-chic personal DIY touches. Almost everything was handmade by the bride: her hairpiece, the boutonnieres, her flower girl’s tutu, and the reception decor! She lovingly incorporated objects that represent the two of them into the details and the result is just stunning.

I have the amazing Krista Lee to thank for entrusting me with her GORGEOUS photos! Here’s what she had to say about the wedding:

Kristin and Kevin tied the knot at a private venue in Franklin, Tennessee on a lovely autumn day.  The weather was crisp and perfect and I couldn’t believe all of the amazing details incorporated into the day.  Kristin went all out on the DIY decor, and pulled most of the accents together with the help of her wedding planner Kristin Kaplan of Simply Stunning Events.  I LOVED all of the bird cages and shabby chic mason jars.  Kristin also incorporated old cameras and fun vintage items into the table decor = LOVE!!!

The love between these two is so abundant and obvious, it just makes you giddy to watch them together.  They just absolutely adore each other, and look so freaking cute together!

I can’t agree more… they are super cute together and their wedding is a virtual feast for the eyes! Ready with your virtual pins? Let’s go!

The lovely bride is here to tell us more about her and Kevin and their special day:

Kevin and I were high school sweet hearts and dated for 8.5 years before we got engaged. We’d like to think of ourselves as an adventurous couple because we love to travel and try new things. We have been on many trips and are constantly seeking out new adventures. In May, which marks 10 years that we have been together, we are traveling to Europe for an amazing three weeks.

We actually have a really cute story behind our proposal. (It’s here in case you want to a look.)

When we got engaged, I imagined my perfect wedding to be casual, fun, and infused with DIY projects. I wanted our personalities to shine through. We had a year and a half to plan and I utilized every moment researching wedding blogs, scouting flea markets and thrift stores, and a never-ending list of DIY projects that I was constantly adding to.

How adorable are they? I am SO feeling the love between these two!

Since Kevin and I live in Tennessee and the rest of our family is in Texas, it was up to us to create our handmade wedding. I didn’t want a cookie cutter venue and began searching nontraditional avenues like homeaway.com. I looked for a beautiful house where we could have an outside ceremony and reception as well as rooms for our out-of-town guests.

Most of my favorite details from our wedding were my handmade treasures including boutonnieres made with vintage keys, organza corsages for my mom, mother-in-law and grandmother, my hair piece, tulle tutu for my flower girl, and the S’more Love banner. My crafty friends made my garter, flower girl basket, mason jar lanterns, and the 10.22.2011 banner.

More from Kristin on how they personalized their wedding:

I wanted our tables to be unique and to utilize objects that I could decorate our home with as well. Our centerpieces included burlap runners, birdcages, blue mason jars, old books, and glass bottles I collected for a rustic feel. We used recycled peanut butter jars and lace to create vintage candle holders and made cute heart table numbers and lace candles.

I am a photographer and my husband is a computer nerd so I wanted our head table to be a reflection of us. I used my vintage camera collection to represent my creative side and old books for his book-smarts.

Kevin was such a huge help during all the planning. He built the A-frame chalkboard menu sign, cut the burlap for the table runners, made the chicken wire frame to hold our place cards, and took care of the software for the photo booth. I also dragged him to craft stores and flea markets almost every single weekend and he never complained! We splurged on the custom cake topper from Lollipop Workshop, and it was worth every penny!

We also wanted our guest to be entertained the whole time! During the cocktail hour, we showed a video of Kevin and I telling the proposal story from separate perspectives. We had our guests stamp their fingerprints on a printed tree designed for our guest book. Outside guests could warm up near the bonfire and make tasty smores. Inside we built a photo booth with silly props.

To us, our wedding was about creating an amazing party to share with our closet friends and family. We had such a fun time planning and making our wedding unique. It was truly the most perfect day!
