Hilary & Robert’s Pastel Pretty Cumberland University Wedding

Today I have a special fully-loaded treat because, well, it’s a Friday (who doesn’t love weekends?) and it also happens to be my birthday. 😉

I know you will love Hilary and Robert’s wedding as much as I do because it combines the bride’s charming country girl persona reflected in their pastel-pretty shabby chic details with a modern, sporty vibe courtesy of the groom who played baseball at Cumberland University. The result is a gorgeous and inspiring celebration filled with lots of love and personality.

Meet the super adorbs couple…

Leave it to fabulous Nashville-based photographer Krista Lee to capture the sweetest moments (see her camera work on Kristin & Kevin’s DIY wedding)! Here’s what she had to say about the day:

Hilary and Robert may have had one of the most beautiful weddings I have ever photographed.  They tied the knot at Baird Chapel on the Cumberland University campus, and there was not one detail that wasn’t amazing and perfect!  I am a member of the Wedding Shoppe (a fab group of local wedding vendors) and was so excited that Baughman Media Works and Kennedy Occasions would also be working on Hilary and Robert’s wedding with me. Emily of Kennedy Occasions did an A-mazing job on the flowers and decor, it was so shabby chic and gorgeous.  I loved the colors Hilary picked, a soft palette of muted pinks complimented the pastel blue chapel perfectly.  The boys were a ton of fun and my assistant photographer Alex had a great time getting shots of them in the dugout.  Overall, the day was a huge success!

Isn’t she pretty? Hilary’s here to tell us more about how she and Robert got together:

I am a small town country girl from Tennessee and Rob is from Miami.  We are the ideal example of how opposites attract.  He played baseball at Cumberland University and I played basketball and that is where we met.  My best friend is the one who suggested we start dating because “our personalities fit together so well.”  Turns out, she was right.

Love how Hilary and her mom — her Matron of Honor! — wore matching sparkly Chucks.

More insights from Hilary:

While planning our wedding, I wanted it to be a celebration of where we came from and where we were going together.  Although stressful at times, I tried to think about a day that the guests would enjoy and appreciate.  I am from the Bible belt so I knew some people would feel uncomfortable if the ceremony and reception was too oustide of the norm for the area.  On the other hand, in Miami, weddings come in all differents forms and fashions.  So, ultimately I tried to find a happy medium where everyone had the opportunity to enjoy themselves.

Here’s how Hilary & Robert made their day extra special and especially customized for them:

In the small town I am from, I feel that most weddings are the exact same.  With this being said, I took every opportunity to use details to make our wedding day very personal and truly our day.  First, we got married in the chapel at the school where we met.  That was very important to us.  Also, my mama was my Matron of Honor.. .it doens’t get more personal than that. 🙂

Our preacher who was over the ceremony was the preacher at a local church and former Cumberland baseball player.  That was only fitting considering I myself, was marrying a Cumberland baseball player.

All the milk glass and doilies used were my families own collections that they were kind enough to lend to us.  I also wanted to put a TN touch on the wedding, since that is where we met.  So, the groomsmen’s gifts were bottles of Gentlemen Jack made in TN, the favors were homemade jelly made by a family in TN, our out of town favors were Moon Pies and other goodies that were all made right there in TN.

Get your virtual pins ready because these details are stunning:

Some words of advice:

If you can budget it, hire a wedding planner!!  Don’t get me wrong, my mother and I had our share of stress throughout the planning, but we were able to 100% enjoy the actual wedding day because of the wedding planner.  Anything that needed to be taken care of from flowers to food, she did it that day!!  I should also add that her connections and networking were paramount to the wedding day coming together so perfectly.
