Indie Wedding Music: How Deep Is Your Love by The Bird and the Bee
In honor of the late Bee Gee / singer/composer Robin Gibb whom the music world lost to cancer a week ago, this week’s indie love song is a cover of his wildly popular How Deep Is Your Love (which happens to be Bee Gees‘ greatest commercial triumph by far).
The version I am sharing is a super-sweet rendition by American indie popsters The Bird and the Bee which features the duo’s trademark 60s-ish music styling and of course Inara George’s soft, gorgeous vocals. This track is from their 2007 EP Please Clap Your Hands and, I’m quite sure you’ll agree that it’s a beautiful cover of the original.
I doubt that you haven’t heard of this song but on the off chance that you’re unfamiliar with it, some of Robin Gibb’s wedding-appropriate lyrics go…
I believe in you
You know the door to my very soul
You’re the light in my deepest darkest hour
You’re my savior when I come
And you may not think that I care for you
When you know down inside that I really do
And it’s me you need to show
How deep is your love?
Now listen to The Bird and the Bee’s wonderful version which I honestly think makes a lovely processional or first dance song!
