Alyssa & Jim’s Sweet and Cuddly Picnic E-session
Sometimes all it takes to have memorable and heart-tugging e-session photos is a scenic location and a couple that’s happily and madly in love — which is exactly what today’s feature has. The moment this adorable picnic engagement landed in my TBL inbox, I wasted no time in making sure that you get to see it too!
Love, love, love how sweet and cuddly these two are! And as you will learn in a while, their love for each other spans over 12 years already! With these photos as proof, no one can ever deny that Alyssa and Jim were truly made for each other. 🙂 I’m grateful to Jeremy Deal of North Carolina-based LunahZon Photography for sending in this absolutely gorgeous shoot! Here’s what he had to say about the day:
When we met Jim and Alyssa, we knew we were a perfect fit for each other. We love everything whimsical and beautiful and as you can see they are just that! Jim and Alyssa have been off and on sweethearts since they were 13 years old. We are quite thankful that they finally found their way to each other at last, to tie the knot (probably not as thankful as they are themselves, but pretty close). Jim and Alyssa love the outdoors. It made sense to do their e-session in a woodland Park (Jetton Park, Cornelius NC.) They brought along blankets and books, and basically had a fun little date while we photographed them. We genuinely don’t like to pose our clients. We let them frolic around as we capture them in their happiest. A lot of the time, this method takes time for our friends in front of the camera to get used to, but they forgot about us right away, and had a great time enjoying each others company. As cliche as it sounds, it truly was like watching them fall in love all over again.
So much love flows between these two! Here’s their super cute and epic love story, told in the beautiful couple’s own words:
Jim started asking Alyssa to be his girlfriend in 6th grade. By 8th grade, she finally said “yes” so he would stop asking her every single day during home-ec and computer class. Alyssa was a goody-tushu and Jim spent most of his time in detention; they were PERFECT for each other. Their love started on December 24, 1999 at Adeline Park in Greece, NY where they would meet in the middle almost every day to hold hands on the park-bench. Jim sang “My Girl” to Alyssa each night over the phone. At the age of 13 (actually, Jim had just turned 14) Jim and Alyssa shared their magical (no exaggeration) first kiss in a photo-booth at Greece Ridge Mall. From that moment, both knew without a doubt that someday they would marry one another… what they didn’t know was how long that would take! After a couple years, Jim and Alyssa parted ways on sad terms, hardly speaking to each other at all for the next six. On his 21st birthday, Jim packed up his life and moved to Florida where Alyssa had been with her family for a couple years and began his passionate pursuit of her just as he had 7+ years before. It wasn’t instant, but the two gradually fell in love all over again, this time deeper than before. They followed each other from Florida to Tulsa to New York, back to Florida, and now to North Carolina (where they plan to stay for a while). They have been together again for 3 and a half years now: laughing, crying, sharing, fighting, remembering, dreaming, learning and growing together. They are best friends, in it for the long haul, excited about the future and the fact that they now finally share the same last name!
So how did Jim propose? Here are the details from the bride herself:
On our Thanksgiving vacation, Jim took me to my favorite place in the world — the farm where I grew up and spent some of my happiest years in the southern-tier of New York. After all this time, the house is abandoned (except for a few raccoons and birds) but still standing, and the land is uninhabited, wild, and beautiful. He brought me to the field across from the house and began the loveliest, most heart-felt proposal probably ever given. He sang “My Girl” to me (just like he did every night on the phone when we were little) and we danced. He gave me a piece of cobblestone he had removed from the foundation of the house, (telling me that if a house could last so long when built on a solid foundation, so could our love) an antique sterling-silver ring box with the perfect ring inside, and the truest, deepest love my heart has ever known. Jim picked me up and twirled me around when I said “Yes!” and we spent the rest of the day laughing through our tears, gazing contentedly at each other through huge smiles, kissing and being so grateful for the gift God had given us in each other.
Thanks to Jeremy for sending in his lovely images, and congratulations on your engagement (and marriage!) Alyssa and Jim! I sincerely wish you a blissful life together. 🙂
