Cat & James’ Pastel Pretty Handmade Vintage Wedding

Cat & James had a gorgeous vintage-hued wedding in the picturesque village of Slaidburn in England. What’s remarkable about this intimate and very personal celebration is that everything down to the last whimsical detail was handmade — from the genuine vintage wedding dress to the bouquet and bout through to decor and even the cakes at the reception!

There is so much DIY inspiration in this lovely little wedding and I have Donna Craddock of UK-based Click Click Bang Bang Photography to thank for the beautiful photos and the awesome submission. Here’s how she remembers the day:

I was approached last year by Cat about photographing her wedding and as soon as she told me her theme, I was SO there! Photos of the shoes, dress and other little details were sneakily sent to me over the past few months so by the time their day arrived, I was positively brimming with anticipation! And, oh my, did this wedding live up to my expectations! Set in a beautiful village nestled in the Pennine countryside, Cat and James’ wedding was chock-full of beautiful little details, from the genuine vintage dress, through to the “Mr & Mrs” placards they made for their photographs. A wonderful, surprisingly sunny (considering it was torrential rain only 5 miles away!) and gorgeously thought-out wedding!

Cat makes such a beautiful bride… and how lovely are those details you’ve seen so far? Cat shares that she and James met through friends. They wanted a “Village Hall Vintage” mood to their wedding and wanted guests to feel at home.  In a nutshell, she says their day was informal and was all about “good food, good music, good friends”.

Writing their names on a chalkboard was such a sweet and simple way to welcome guests — and make them feel extra special to be part of their day!

So are you loving everything this beautiful couple did so far? There’s tons more eye candy to come so be ready with your virtual pins! Cat shares the elements in their wedding that made it fun, whimsical, and completely their own:

I wore a vintage 60s dress and Irregular Choice shoes. We had a cake stall that displayed homemade cakes, a sweets stall, handmade table covers, handmade buntings, scrabble pieces spelled out our names, etc.

The eclectic mix of pastel colors and dainty patterns gave this setup such a chic and whimsical feel!

Some parting insights from the bride:

A homemade wedding doesn’t need to be expensive. We made many details ourselves and bought a lot of items off EBay, car boot sales and Etsy including my dress. Think outside the box!
