Janell & Steven’s Streets of New York Engagement
Today e-session doesn’t only showcase adorable couple Janell & Steven’s huge love for one another, it’s also brimming with the flavor of the locale it was photographed in — in this case, New York City. Manhattan is known for its modern skyscrapers and tony contemporary art museums, but it’s also known for the colorful & culturally diverse art and graffiti-filled streets particularly in the Lower East Side where this funky urban e-session took place. I love the edgy feel of the photos and I’m sure you will too!
Such cutie pies! This feature was made possible through the talents of Dustin & Anne-Claire Cantrell of BACD Photography, responsible for all the GORGEOUS photos on this page. They shared that Steven and Janell’s e-session is a perfect example of what they tell their clients when choosing a location in NYC. “When asked by our clients about choosing locations we tell them either choose locations that have meaning to them or just pick a meeting spot and then we walk around looking for cool spots.” We’ll find out more about this session later. In the meantime, please enjoy the photos.
Don’t beautiful couple Janell and Steven look like they’re made for one another? The twosome actually met on eHarmony! Here’s their sweet story as shared by the lovely bride:
I’m a southern girl at heart from North Carolina and Steve is a Philadelphia native who likes to think of himself as a Renaissance man. One day at a family event Steve’s mom gave him “the talk.” You know—the one that you get when you’re age 25(+),working 50 hours a week, and you have to search through your calendar to see the next time that you’ll have an opportunity to pick up the dry cleaning…. from two weeks ago!! “Steven, you need to slow down and meet a nice girl”…. which led to the suggestion of Steve joining Eharmony. Matched on 29 levels of compatability? Who could say no? He answered the 100(+) questions that exposed a persons’ inner most content and his answers led him to an overworked family medicine resident starting life anew in Lancaster, PA. We emailed for a week and agreed to have our first date on February 14 ,2010 at 1500 Arch Street Philadelphia, PA… the location of the famous Philadelphia Love Park. When he saw me he walked across the street and met his wife for the first time. He took my hand …held it as we walked a few block to our first date at the Franklin Institute …and hasn’t let go since.
Janell shares the story behind their artistic e-session:
We have always thought of ourselves as a unique, creative, out-of-the-box couple. We knew that traditional engagement photos would not fit out style and so Steve searched the internet high and low for the perfect photographer. We wanted to have a couple with just as much creativity as we had to shoot us. Steve happened upon BACD Photography and we were amazed by their ability to play with light and shadow, use unique angles, and find inspiring backdrops! Having the pictures taken in the fast-paced and culturally diverse city of Manhattan gave us the ability to shoot by a Kenny Scharf mural in one scene, a wall of newspapers in the next, and with the most famous forms of New York transportation – the metro and the subway…
I love all the photos in this e-session but these ones that make use of available light and shadow are FANTASTIC.
Huge thanks to Dustin & Anne-Claire for sending this wonderful shoot my way and congratulations, Janell & Steven! Here’s wishing you a blissful life together.
