Ashley & Jonathan’s Fantastic Fireworks-and-Flames Engagement

Did you enjoy all the geeky wedding and engagement inspiration I shared these past few days? Just to recap, on Monday we had an awesome e-session inspired by Magic: the Gathering, steampunk, and anime. Tuesday we had a Math-and-Chalkboard Fun e-session and a Geek Chic Science Museum Wedding. Wednesday we saw a Dr. Who-inspired engagement. Thursday we had a fun Clark Kent / Superman and Lois Lane love shoot on a rooftop.

Today I am absolutely thrilled to share with you a rock-your-socks-off amazing engagement session filled with flashing lights, blazing flames, and most importantly loads of love. Ashley and Jonathan, self-proclaimed nerds, didn’t want any old traditional e-session. They bounced off ideas with their photographers and started the day with a playful e-session in an open field, after which they changed into The Flash and Green Lantern t-shirts and had a fantastic nighttime shoot accompanied by a huge bonfire and dazzling fireworks!

Ashley & Jonathan are not your average couple and thus they didn’t want average pictures. We spent 7 hours with these two creating some totally unique images. We explored possibilities for something completely different. It just so happened that my mom was wanting to have a bonfire. We ended up using the fire, fireworks, flashlights (for light painting), and burning steel wool for the last few images. We had an absolute blast with Ashley & Jonathan! Their wedding is going to be amazing!

If this shoot is any indication of how extraordinary their wedding is going to be, well I sure can’t wait to see it too!

Just how adorable are these two? Let’s to get to know them a little better. Pretty Ashley’s here to tell us more about themselves and the shoot:

Jonathan is a deputy sheriff for Chatham County and I am going to school to be a cosmetologist. We are both 27 years old and very outgoing, free spirits that are big kids at heart and most importantly we LOVE comics, and we collect them. Jonathan collects comics and I actually collect action figures. It’s something we both enjoy.

The superhero shirts represent our love for comics and we wanted to incorporate that in our engagement pictures. Jonathan and I are what some would call nerds, but that’s us, and we love it and most of all we love each other and I am thankful everyday that I met someone who enjoys the same things I do. And now we have awesome engagement pictures to share that love!

These photos are just STUNNING! What’s probably even more amazing is that they’re all REAL. Sarah’s back with the details:

We had an absolute blast with Thad and Sarah. I personally have never had a photoshoot before and was very nervous but the two of them made me feel like I have known them all my life! While they were taking pictures of us you could just tell that they truly love what they do and take pride in the outcome of their product which made me feel very good. When we told them about what we wanted for our engagement pictures I thought they were going to be photoshop edited but they weren’t, everything in the pictures is real.

Everyone that saw the firework picture and the spark picture thinks it has been digitally altered and I tell them “no we are just that crazy!” Ha Ha! I can’t wait to see the wedding pictures. I really hope Thad and Sarah get a lot of business from this type of photoshoot because they deserve it and they are a real pleasure to work with.

Not sure if it was intentional but these photos give off a fantastic supernatural / otherworldly vibe! This one most especially, and the following photos too.
