Christy & Chris’ Superman-Inspired Rooftop Engagement Session
Today we have a delightful engagement session inspired by no less than the Man of Steel himself! Christy is a huge fan of Superman and just like Lois Lane found Clark Kent, she found her own Superman in her sweetie Chris who lovingly donned the Clark Kent-Superman outfit just for her.
We have Perry Vaile Photography to thank for the beautiful images on this page! Here’s what she had to say about the day:
SUPERMAN. That’s all I really need to say, but I’ll explain just a bit more! I always ask my clients to tell me their likes and hobbies so that I can learn about them and what they’re into. Christy and Chris are certainly off-beat from the average couple because they came back with SUPERMAN! We took their love for the caped crusader literally and worked on creating a Lois & Clark themed engagement session! We shot on top of a building in downtown Raleigh – the perfect stand-in Metropolis! I totally loved that these two didn’t take their engagement photos too seriously, they had FUN with it and that’s what it’s all about! They plan on using these photos for their Save the Date – so, instead of “saving the day” … Superman can “Save the Date!” …. is that awesome, or is that awesome?
Yes it is Perry! So glad I can share this super fun e-session with all of you so without further ado… look! Up in the sky!
Aww is that a look of love or what? I just adore how Christy & Chris transformed themselves into Lois and Clark for this photo shoot. Let’s get to know them a bit better, shall we? Over to you Christy:
Chris is a manager at Discount Tire here in Raleigh, NC and I work at a WakeMed Primary Care Office in Raleigh, NC as well. We both love hockey, especially Carolina Hurricanes Hockey. 80% of our year is hockey games when the season kicks in. We both making each other laugh. That’s how we won each other over mainly, was our sense of humor. We also love our families very much. There isn’t much we do without them around. I love Chris’ family. They are like my own. Both of my Grandmothers died and I see his as my own. He loves being around mine as well, I have a down-home country family that always makes him laugh. We both couldn’t ask for better in-laws.
The cute proposal story:
The way he proposed was sweet and definitely unexpected when he did it. We had talked about it and I had said I didn’t really want him to do it in front of people, and he actually listened.
I woke up at midnight with him standing up beside the bed. When I asked him what was wrong he just said he didn’t feel good. He got down on his knees beside the bed, and asked me to scoot to his side of the bed so he could kiss me. Mind you, I was half asleep and not really thinking any of this was weird. Finally, after being frustrated a little because I was really tired, I just looked at him and said ” You can’t keep me awake unless you have me a ring.” He told me later on, that everything he was going to say flew right out of his head. After a few minutes of waiting on me to say it again he just asked, ” What did you say I had to do to keep you awake?” In that moment, I realized what was going on and completely woke up. Chris placed the ring on my chest with a smile on his face. All I could say was “Seriously, Babe?” “Really?” Of course, I said “Yes!”
You can read more about how Christy and Chris met on their wedding website.
Christy explains the idea behind their e-session:
I am the one with the Superman love. I love almost anything Superman. I have tons of stuff. Chris said the first time he walked into my room, it was like when Dane Cook walked into Jessica Alba’s room on “Good Luck Chuck” with all her penguins. I had Superman everywhere.
Thank you Perry for sending this absolutely wonderful e-session my way, and congratulations on your engagement Christy and Chris! Good luck with the wedding planning you guys.
