Indie Wedding Music: What You Won’t Do For Love (Cover) by Jessie Ware
Bobby Caldwell‘s 1978 classic What You Won’t Do For Love (co-written with Alfons Kettner) has been covered so many times but I don’t think I’ve ever heard any that’s as spine-tingling awesome as UK independent artist Jessie Ware‘s version. The song is already a gem to begin with but treated with Jessie’s cool, smooth-as-honey vocals coupled with fellow songwriter Sampha‘s digital sampling, it’s totally reached brand new heights. The result is a soulful, sexy, and extra chill reworking of the classic that’s guaranteed to entice your guests onto the dance floor.
If you’re not familiar with the song, here’s a taste of the dripping-with-devotion lyrics:
Some people go around the world for love
But they may never find what they dream of
What you won’t do, do for love
You’ve tried everything but you don’t give up
In my world only you makes me do
For love what I would not do
And now, listen to it below:
Wasn’t that amazing??? I’m so in love with this song I’ve been playing it over and over in my browser right now! So do you think you can use it for your wedding? I honestly think it makes a fantastic first dance song.
Jessie Ware’s debut album Devotion is due for release in August 2012 but you can pre-order it from Amazon.
