Terri & Lenny’s Jazzy Blue New Orleans Wedding
A shared affection for New Orleans, jazz, and (of course) one another led Terri and Lenny to hold their wedding in NOLA since it’s where they fell in love. In a royal blue gown and carrying a matching parasol, Terri walked down a makeshift aisle in Audobon Park next to a brass band playing “What a Wonderful World”. They timed their wedding for Jazz Fest weekend so the city itself, Frenchman Street to be exact, was their post wedding dinner party venue!
We have Natalie Champa Jennings Photography for the dreamy photos on this page and she had this to say about the quirky & unique celebration:
What and incredible day to be a part of. New Orleans is such a vibrant, music-filled place that I was absolutely delighted to shoot Terri & Lenny’s wedding there recently. Not to mention it was Jazz Fest weekend so extra fun and music was certainly in the air! It’s not often you can truly see a perfect match, but Terri and Lenny are it. They both share such a deep love of music and spending time with their family and friends. The Tree of Life in Audubon Park in NOLA was the perfect place to tie the knot. Terri took things into her own hands and decided to rock the NOLA style by wearing royal blue with feathers and dancing down a New Orleans traditional second line with a colorful parasol. Her many tattoos reflect so much, but especially her love of life and music and she made sure to show them off. Champagne and oyster shots followed the ceremony including a wee bag of personalized m&m’s to match the blue theme. All in all this wedding was a pleasure to photograph!
I absolutely love how this couple did things completely their own way! Here’s the lovely Terri to tell us more about herself and Lenny:
Lenny and I love to have a good time. We love traveling, playing outdoors, good music, and enjoying life with our family and friends.
We began dating in New Orleans at JazzFest so we decided to return to one of our favorite cities (and where our relationship began) to get married. Our mutual friend who introduced us officiated the ceremony. We wanted something small and intimate yet something that would also fit with the spirit of New Orleans. We chose to get married at Audubon Park at The Tree of Life, which is a gorgeous oak tree that makes a beautiful setting for any special occasion. It really was the most beautiful day. Couldn’t have asked for anything more…
Terri describes how they owned their wedding:
I’d say the whole ceremony was fairly unique to Lenny and I. I wore a blue dress and had a parasol. We had a few members of the New Pinstripe Brass Band play before and after our ceremony in the park. We limited our guest list to immediate family and a handful of friends, so in total we only had 28 people attend. We didn’t have a reception afterwards but an amazing meal at one of our favorite restaurants in New Orleans.
How fun are these two?? Parting advice from the awesome duo:
I had no idea how many people would want to influence our wedding and all I have to say is be true to yourself and do what you and your partner want to do. It’s your day. Do what is going to make the both of you happy even if it’s not the norm!
Thank you Natalie for sending your gorgeous images my way and congratulations Terri and Lenny! Thanks for giving us an access pass into your special day!
