Lauren & Jeff’s Rock the Dress Session at a Ranch (with Horses)

Montana rock the dress session

Montana-based Kristine Paulsen Photography sent me this gorgeous rustic post-wedding session and once I saw the photos of the lovely bride with her horses, I just knew I had to share it with you! Here’s Kristine with the deets:

Lauren, from the get-go, was very interested in doing a “rock the dress” session after her wedding day, to celebrate both her dress and the gorgeous Montana setting in which she lives. She even included her horses in the session, and was brave enough to hop into a rather chilly creek. We had SO much fun, and it was pretty hilarious, because her horses were super curious about this “peculiar” white dress they hadn’t seen before, and they were exceptionally interested in my cameras. Made for a pretty fun session. 🙂

One can easily feel the bond Lauren has with her horses! Let’s get to know the beautiful couple a little better. Here’s Lauren:

Jeff and I are outdoorsy, laid-back, animal, family and friend- oriented. We like to fish, hunt (not Lauren), horseback ride, float the river, garden and sit around the campfire. I can’t think of anything outdoors that we don’t like to do. Our 2 dogs are our kids and we love the cows, horses, chickens and wildlife that call the ranch home as well.

(As for their love story, I think the best way to share it is to lead you to their wedsite. 🙂 )

Lauren shares that the location for this e-session couldn’t have been more special to them. In fact, it’s also where they got married:

Jeff has been the Ranch Manager for Two Feathers Ranch for 4 years, where we also live and where we knew we had to get married. The logisitics were a nightmare because no one had ever gotten married there, so I was starting from scratch and we soon realized that there aren’t many flat areas of the ranch for 250 guests! But we knew we had to make it work somehow. Although it may sound silly, the ranch is literally our blood, sweat and tears and although we know it does not belong to us, it is a piece of us. Until the ranch became our home 4 years ago, I never knew such a connection to a place could exist. As someone who has traveled throughtout the U.S. and internationally to SE Asia, Europe, Africa and South America, I never thought “home” would feel like this. Now that we said our vows there, the ranch is even that more special to us.
The reason we had a day after session was because I knew I wanted pictures with our horses, in the fields, in the creek and did not want to ruin my dress before the wedding. I also wanted to be sure we were relaxed (my husband hates cameras) and not feel rushed, and so that we had as much time as possible to celebrate with our family and friends the actual day of the wedding. 🙂
