Kelsey & Kyle’s Bright, Bold & Cheery Temecula Winery Wedding (Part 1)
Happy Friday everyone! Today I have a bright, colorful, and undeniably fun wedding to show you — in fact I’ve divided it in two parts so you can soak in all the awesomeness! Kelsey is a competitive cheerleading coach and Kyle is an avid skateboarder. Their “cheery and laid-back” wedding in Temecula wine country was filled with brightly hued Gerber daisies, ribbons, parasols and tons of quirky DIY-ed details, such as charming skateboard boutonnieres, personalized hangers, handmade banners & so much more! The bridal party also had a memorable ceremony entrance which you’ll just have to see for yourself.
I’m so happy I can share this inspiring, creative wedding with you and we have San Diego-based Aaron Feldman of True Photography to thank for the oh-so-beautiful eye candy. Here we go!
Don’t you just love their outfits? And look, checkerboard ties to match skate shoes!
The lovely couple had a first look…
Kelsey shares that since the guys’ attire wasn’t the typical suit or tux, she thought the bouts shouldn’t be typical either and used mini skateboards instead! Looped ribbon leaves were topped off with skateboard wheels as flower buds.
These vineyard photos are just gorgeous, aren’t they?
Kelsey says they chose the venue because — apart from the fact that they love wine — Temecula isn’t that far from their hometown of San Diego but it was distant enough to make it a retreat. It was also perfect since they had the entire venue to themselves the entire day!
Now for the memorable entrance I mentioned earlier…
Kelsey and her sister had a teal ’57 Chevy Barbie car when they were younger so she took inspiration from that for their fun entrance! (She also noted that every male at the wedding couldn’t stop talking about the cars!)
Kelsey’s mom always made the team banner for her softball teams when she was younger so she had the idea of having her two nieces carry a “Here Comes the Bride” sign down the aisle. So adorable!
Right before the ceremony, guests were asked to choose a beverage of their choice for the pre-ceremony toast to Kelsey’s father, Ted, who passed away over a year ago. He made amazing margaritas which they fondly call Ted-aritas. The photo above shows Kelsey and her two sisters/matrons of honor and her mom during the toast so it felt like they, along with her dad up above, walked her down the aisle and gave her away. What a sweet, touching moment.
I love this idea — they hired a caricaturist, Dave Stephens, to capture the event!
How fun are these photos??
The vibe Kelsey & Kyle wanted was “fun, laid-back, cheery, and unexpected” — just like the two of them so when guests said that the event was “totally them”, the couple knew they did it right!
Wasn’t that awesome? Come back on Monday to see the rest of this bright, bold and colorful wedding! Without giving away too much, here’s a sneaky peek of what you can expect to see at the equally amazing reception.
