Ann & James’ Love-on-the-Run E-Session inspired by the movie In Time
The dangerously romantic scenario of being in love while on the run has been interpreted many times in literature and movies (and in love sessions like Andreea & Dan’s Cinematic Love, Crime, and Passion E-session in Romania featured here last month). The 2011 dystopian film “In Time” starring Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried had a similar premise but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a shoot inspired by it… well not until Ann showed me her and James’ e-session! I’m really glad she did because (1) their shoot is pretty cool as you’ll see below, and (2) I get another chance to show off how beautiful the scenery in my country is!
This shoot was set in a yacht club in Subic Bay here in the Philippines and was photographed by Benjie Tiongco Photography. Please enjoy!
Don’t they both look glamorous? Lovely Ann is here to tell us why they chose to have this theme for their e-session:
James and I are homebodies. We just like to watch movies and eat popcorn at home during weekends. The very first sci-fi romantic flick we watched together was the movie “In Time” with Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried. We wanted an e-session theme where we could make our modeling dream come true (LOL) without having to use props. I first suggested this to James and the next day, we found ourselves scouting for outfits and a wig (since I have long hair) at a nearby shopping mall.
Side note: We also considered “The Notebook” and the animated flick “UP” but I know a lot of couples already had those themes. I think we might be the first couple to do the “In Time” theme. ^_^
I think it’s fitting that their shoot is aboard a ship because these two had an across-the-sea romance! Here’s Ann with their love story:
Hmm, how do I start? James added me on Facebook in October 2010 while he was still working in Madagascar, Africa and I live here in Manila, Philippines. We had the same religion, Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ), and his sister was a batchmate from high school so I added him back even though we haven’t met personally. We exchanged messages, emails, sms, and had frequent Skype sessions for two months. Then in December he came back here in the Philippines for a vacation.
It’s funny because when I first saw him in person, there was no “spark”. I thought he was just an addition to my growing list of friends, but when I saw how patient he was — he would wait 4-8 hours everyday for the duration of his 2-week visit for me to get off from work! — I changed my mind about him. He visited our home and my mom liked him very much. It was then that we made our relationship official. He went back to Madagascar and we continued our long distance relationship.
Sometime in February 2011, James brought up the idea of getting married over Skype on 12-12-12 since it’s his favorite number and we’ll have to wait for another century just to get that date again. I thought he was just joking but he then asked my mom and dad for their permission! My parents, specially my dad, were hesitant but my mom saw how happy I was so they agreed.
I started preparing for our wedding while James was still in Madagascar. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get married on 12-12-12 in our dream church due to a conflict in schedule so we ended up with the date 12-04-12, hehe. 10 months later, James came back to the Philippines for good so that he could help me with the wedding preparations.
On March 23, 2012, he made our engagement official by proposing to me at the rooftop of the building where he currently works! Our relationship became stronger during our 1 year and 10 months wedding preparation. We know it’s kind of a whirlwind romance but for us it’s a unique love story to remember.
(You can read more about James’ proposal on Ann’s blog).
Thank you Ann for sending your beautiful shoot my way and congratulations to you and James! Here’s wishing you a lifetime of bliss! 🙂
