Alicia & Stephen’s Shiny, Sparkly and Spunky Teal and Pink Wedding

hollywood party style wedding

Happy Monday everyone! As the title says, today’s featured wedding is shiny, sparkly, and loooooads of fun and trust me, it’s obvious in the photos! From the bright teal and pink color palette to the wacky bridal party shots and awesome couple portraits, the lovely couple definitely stamped their personalities on their wedding. Spunky, fun-loving Alicia is a hair stylist and according to Joel & Sharon Conner of Conner Photography, her vivaciousness is the perfect match for Stephen’s more reserved and steady confidence. Here are the Conners with the rest of the back story on this event:

We had the privilege of meeting Alicia & Stephen through one of our favorite couples from last year, Lori & Bill. When Lori described her cousin Alicia to us, she told us that she got all her spunk from Alicia :), so we knew instantly that we were going to love her, and we weren’t wrong. I’ve had a great time getting to know Alicia over the past year not only as one our brides but as my amazing hair stylist as well, so this was a wedding we were really looking forward to! We always love when our couples become more than clients and we all become friends — it’s like an awesome job perk, and something that we think sets us apart.

Alicia is the owner of Salon Fleur de Lis in South City, St. Louis, which is where we started our day with the girls getting gorgeous while the guys relaxed at Lumiere. They managed to refrain from gambling on the wedding day (at least to our knowledge!) and were all looking studly for the ceremony. Stephen is the only brother of 5 sisters who all escorted him down the aisle before he joined his groomsmen. Another unique touch for their ceremony was when Alicia’s mom and dad walked her down the aisle, and I have to give Lou Ann a shout out because she is absolutely beautiful and definitely passed on her looks genes to her daughter! After the ceremony Alicia & Stephen sneaked across the street to Llywelyns, where Stephen works, to take a quick celebratory shot before heading off to photos.

They say you attract people like yourself, so it was no surprise that Alicia and Stephen’s bridal party was fun and a bit crazy. Alicia looked & posed like a model, so we couldn’t help doing a few shots of her at the Arch that look like they could be on a magazine — she’s a natural. But I have to say my favorite of her moves was during the reception when she danced with Bill in one of the most amazing displays we have ever seen!

From this point on I’ll let the lovely Alicia tell you all about her and Stephen’s story and their wedding:

Stephen and I met when we were both in a wedding in Mexico in 2009. I own a hair salon in St. Louis Hills that he helped me open in 2011. He helps me run it and he is also a bartender. So those are the facts…..The fun stuff is, we are both extremely outgoing and love to talk and have a good time. We are almost always surrounded by friends and family because they are such a big part of our lives and we enjoy every moment! Neither of us sit down well, so we are always doing something, which really caused us to think a lot about how we wanted our big day to go so that there was never a dull moment.

I guess you could say our wedding had a little bit of a old Hollywood party style theme to it. It was a pretty traditional ceremony other than Stephen having 5 sister that walked him down the aisle before I made my entrance. The most fun was taking the pictures!

In Benton park where we did a lot of the photos I just felt so in love and like I was in movie…

Stephen works at a bar right by the church so we walked across the street and we took a quick pic of him behind the bar serving me a shot.

When we passed the graffiti wall downtown that was my scene, I love the funky Art Deco and the attitude of the environment those were so much fun!

Last but not least the arch pictures just stole the show for me, I really felt like a movie star that had made it at that moment!

The candy “bars” have been quite popular so we went a different route and did a Gus’ pretzel bar.

I also really felt that being at Hotel Lumiere made it unique with all the big lit trees and waterfall in the reception area. Stephen would say I made it special by making everything “Shiney, Sparkly, and Teal”. Usually my favorite colors are Shiney, Sparkly and purple. 🙂

We did our receiving line as our guests entered the reception which was awesome because we could say our hellos and thank yous and had the rest of the night to boogie and party. Our reception was amazing, we had a band (for Stephen) and a dj( for me). Which was about my most favorite thing! Having a DJ and a band really made our wedding “us”. It was so nice having both styles to dance to and it really got everyone on the floor. The love in that room was awesome, I have never felt so special!

Words of advice: Cherish every moment and remember why You decided to get married in the first place. So many people get caught up in the drama of the day and forget that they are celebrating an amazing love story and they all the people there are helping you continue to create your story. There isn’t anything (at least to me) that makes you feel so alive and so special then when you are staring in our spouse’s eyes and then say I Love You.
