Joslin & Corey’s Super Cool Subaru-themed Engagement Session
As the blog post title says, today’s featured engagement session is all about a Subaru-loving couple and their beloved Subie sedans! The second half of the e-sesh was shot on the beach because the place figures prominently in both Joslin and Corey’s lives and in their engagement story as you will find out later.
I LOVED this shoot as soon as I received it and we have the talented Anna Bruce Photography (who also brought us Denise & LJ’s Techno-Music-Party-in-a-Vineyard Wedding last year) to thank for the beautiful images. Coincidentally, Anna also has a Subaru and has been very much in the Subie Scene since 2005 which made her a perfect fit for the couple! Here she is with a few words about the session:
What I loved about this shoot, aside from this amazing couple, was that is was Subaru Themed! It was so important to Joslin and Corey to have their cars included in their engagement session. I love themed sessions and I love even more that it was a Subie Session!
Loving how FUN this e-session is? From this point on, the lovely Joslin will tell you all about how she and Corey met (and yes, there are Subies in the story!)
My husband, Corey, and I met in high school. We had every single class together in our senior year, so we were constantly together. We would leave school at the same time, so I would see his car every day, a gorgeous black 2004 Subaru WRX. I had never really noticed Subarus before, but I was totally into fast cars! As we started talking to each other more and more, he would tell me all about his Subaru and why he loved them so much. Eventually I fell in love with the brand, and with him!
We started dating and he had to get rid of his beloved Subaru because he was young and stupid, and he got caught trying to race another car in a 55MPH zone. His parents made him sell the car and he ended up with an Expedition! Yuck! After we were dating for a while, his parents decided that he had matured since being with me and allowed him to get another WRX! He got an even faster, silver 2005 WRX, and he still has it now. Of course, I was getting super jealous. I owned a 2008 Chevy Cobalt at the time… BORING! I ending up selling my car and buying my own silver 2004 WRX! I loved that car to death, I even sold the Cobalt and bought the WRX before I even knew how to drive a manual, but I learned. The only problem was that it was a money pit, so in July 2012, I sold it and bought my dream car, a silver 2005 Subaru Forester XT! It is essentially the same car in SUV form.
So that is the background for the Subaru portion of the photo shoot. As you can probably tell, we are obsessed with them!
We did the rest of the e-session at the beach because that’s where we live, Virginia Beach. My husband has lived here his entire life, and I have lived on all coastal states growing up as a Navy brat.
On how we got engaged: We attended prom with a large group of people. The group decided to go to the beach in the party bus that we had for the night to take prom photos. When we all got there, Corey and I went for a walk on the beach. He was telling me how much he loved me and then he proposed right there on the beach. He totally did not plan to do it that night; it was completely a spur of the moment thing. He didn’t even have a ring. Needless to say, we were missing from the beach group photo. We had an amazing night at prom after the beach and the very next morning, we went to pick out an engagement ring!
Thank you Anna for sending this super cool shoot my way, and congratulations on your engagement (and recent wedding) Joslin & Corey! 🙂
