Patti & Shawn’s Sweet and Epic Softball & Surfing TTD Session
Happy Friday everyone! Before anything else, isn’t that kissing-while-surfing photo above amazing? I’ve actually been waiting for weeks to share today’s feature with you because it’s all sorts of TERRIFIC.
You might recognize beautiful couple Patti and Shawn from the Sun-Kissed DIY Tropical Oasis Wedding I featured last month. A few days later, they met up with fab photographers Sara and Jason Martin (of Concept Photography, see their previously featured work + BTL interview) for some REAL FUN. Dressed in wedding garb, they dirtied themselves up playing softball — a nod to how they started dating (minus the dirtying up of course) — and later on got on their surfboards, surfed, paddled, and played around on the beach — activities they love to do as Floridians. 🙂
To sum up the Trash the Dress session, photographer Sara said, “One gorgeous sunset and three wedding dresses later, we were all a little wet and had huge smiles on our faces!” I have a smile on my face just from looking at the gorgeous photos myself. Please enjoy.
Are you loving the pics so far? There’s a lot more eye candy coming up but before that, here’s Patti to share how the TTD session came about:
Actually I had never really known much about TTD till our first meeting with Sara. When she was showing me her work I instantly fell in love with a photo she had. It was of a girl on a tree branch over the water. It was one of the most beautiful pictures I had ever seen. When I commented on it she told me what TTD shoot was. At that point Shawn and I both knew we wanted to do that.
We wanted the shoot to really encompass who we are as a couple and show our interests. We tried and tried to figure out one thing that really summed us up and just couldn’t narrow it down to one thing. So we decided to do three different styles for our TTD. I also had 3 different dresses. One for each shoot. The first one of us playing softball we chose because it’s how we started dating. To this day we still play. We have always viewed it as our special activity together so we knew we had to do that. We chose to do the shoot at The Flutie Athletic Complex. Just a few minutes away from where we married. The second was a beautiful tail that we discovered at Sebastian Inlet 15 minutes down the road from where we were married. Shawn and I love the outdoors and going exploring. When we found that trail that lead to the ocean we knew we wanted some shots there. The last set of pictures we took was on the river side of the Inlet. Since my family has been in Florida Shawn and I have been trying to pick up surfing. It’s something we both have really come to enjoy. When we get to visit it is always on our list of things to do. Since we consider this our Florida hobby we felt it was only suiting that we made it one of our selections as well.
The night of our wedding I ended up having a horrible gallbladder attack. I ended up in the hospital for a few days and the day after I got out Sara and Jason made time to do this shoot with us. I was worried I wouldn’t be in picture shape after being in the hospital. Sara and Jason did a beautiful job of making me feel like a star even though I was under the weather.
The other great thing about this session was the time Shawn and I got to spend with each other. On our wedding day it was go,go, go! We didn’t really get much time to enjoy one an other. For our TTD shoots Jason and Sara made sure that was the number one priority. They just wanted us to have fun with each other and somehow they managed to get those amazing pictures along the way!
Huge thanks to Sara and Jason for sending this awesome post-wedding session my way, and congratulations again Patti and Shawn! You guys look fantastic together. 🙂
