Megan & Stephen’s Offbeat and Funky House of Blues NOLA Wedding

Megan and Stephen are non-traditional, artistic individuals and they wanted a wedding that was a reflection of their personalities. Following their whims and uninentionally defying the traditions of the South, they chose the funky and colorful House of Blues New Orleans as their venue. They were married outdoors among their closest friends and family under the covered canopy behind the restaurant. There was a true NOLA Second Line band to escort them from the ceremony area to the reception which was held upstairs in the blue colored lights…with the band to celebrate! Megan is an illustrator so she created their invitations and made sure that their wedding was just as offbeat and unique as they are.

We have Catherine Guidry to thank for the delightful photos of this truly unique celebration. Enjoy!

From this point onwards I will let the lovely bride Megan tell you all about herself & Stephen and take you through some of the details of their wedding:

I am a graphic artist, he is back in school as a student of physical therapy. We got married on April 21st which was the day of our 10th year anniversary together.

We are both pretty non-traditional and just wanted to have a fun wedding that really reflected us.  We chose the House of Blues because it was one of the first places we met and we both love music. I also love the fact that it was very colorful and kind of funky.

I tried not to sweat too many of the details ( for example, my bridesmaids were asked just to wear their favorite little black dress rather than making them wear something uniform and specific)

Although to make the wedding truly ours, I really tried to do somethings myself (like design the invitations). I tried to make that very unique to us.

Advice from the newlyweds:

Everything up to the day of the wedding was extremely stressful for me but the actual day of the wedding was perfect. I guess I would say to try not to stress to much leading up to it and just really try to enjoy the wedding day (because it felt like it moved at warp speed)
