Melissa & Brian’s Retro-Fantastic Vintage Aviator E-session
Melissa has a love of the vintage pinup era and her sweetie Brian is a recreational pilot who’s quite the WWII history era fanatic. I thought it was brilliant that they decided to have a vintage aviator e-session to marry their individual passions. It turned out swimmingly as you’ll see in a bit. They found a vintage plane airport in Sonoma and Melissa sourced some amazing vintage outfits at a local costume shop. Aren’t they the spiffy twosome in their retro attires? I was also pleasantly surprised to learn that Melissa styled her hair herself which is quite the cat’s meow in my book. 🙂
We have Carmen Salazar Photography (see her previously featured work) to thank for the awesome retrotastic images. Enjoy!
Let’s meet the beautiful couple. Lovely Melissa’s here to tell us a little bit about herself and Brian:
I am a Marriage and Family Therapist and Brian is an Aerospace Engineer and a private pilot. We grew up in the same home town and even had mutual friends but never met until the summer of 2002 when I was hired as a summer camp counselor at the camp where Brian already worked. For that first summer we were friends, and then when we both came back to work at camp in 2003, I asked him out, and we’ve been together ever since!
We share a love of the outdoors, Brian’s gotten me interested in backpacking. We love to go bike-riding together. We also love zombie movies/TV!

On their e-session:
The engagement session was “us” because Brian loooooooves WWII era history and planes. He watches all the History Channel shows, and he drags me to museums and airshows as much as he can. As for me, this session was my chance to be a pinup girl! I loooove to dress up, especially in vintage stuff, and so renting the clothes was half the fun! I also researched hair and makeup and I did my own!As for the location, we just wanted to go somewhere that had vintage 40s planes to complete the look with our clothes, hair, and props. We were basically just born in the wrong decade…..
Thank you Carmen for sending your gorgeous images my way, and congratulations Melissa & Brian on your engagement (and marriage!). I sincerely wish you a lifetime of married bliss. 🙂
