Desiree & Rich’s Very Dr. Who Engagement

Dr. Who e-session

Dr. Who is certainly no stranger to Poptastic Bride couples. You might remember the Tardis garter at this sci-fi and comics-inspired wedding, and of course the vibrant grandma-made scarves in this Dr. Who e-session from last year.

Desiree & Rich also hold a special place for the doctor in their hearts because the ring box Rich proposed with was a mini Tardis. Both are fans of the TV show so of course they had to incorporate it into their e-session.

We have Cathie Berry-Green of BG Productions to thank for this whimsical feature and here she is with the shoot’s overview:

A BLUE BOX, A RING, AND A COUPLE SONIC SCREW DRIVERS AND YOU HAVE A VERY DR. WHO ENGAGEMENT! Your fiancé proposed to you with a ring inside a miniature TARDIS and you need a photographer for your engagement session cuz the one you had fell through!! You loved us from meeting us at a wedding where you were a bridesmaid and we got our schedules to match up! She asked us if we could incorporate Dr. Who into the Session- HELL YAY!!! The PERFECT match!! Anyone who knows us knows how much we LOVE Dr. Who! (maybe even a little too much!)

A beautiful Fall evening, a beautiful park, a sweet geekster couple in LOVE, and a few Dr. Who props & you have the perfect evening! But watch out- those Daleks can be pretty dangerous!! Meet Desiree and Rich who are running off to have a destination wedding but wanted some really cool and fun engagement photos locally to show their style and use for a STD! of course we got some sweet, romantic, non Dr. photos as well!!

How they got together, in the lovely Desiree’s own words:

Rich and I have known each other about 13 years and we actually went on a date when we were still in high school, though I didn’t really like him all that much at the time. We grew apart and didn’t keep in touch until 2010 when a mutual friend passed away. We reconnected at the funeral and he invited me to a Philadelphia Union soccer game. I went and became his “week day girlfriend” as I was working at a job that let me out early enough to go to the random week night games.

After a few games I decided I didn’t want to be one of a rotation of girls attending the games with him, and after a few glasses of wine one night at dinner I kissed him. We were unofficially seeing each other from that day on. Christmas Eve 2010 we became “Facebook official” and exclusive.

More about the twosome:

We are both passionate Football fans, I am a die hard Dallas Cowboy fan and he is a die hard Philadelphia eagle fan.. To “make up for my faults” I was given a list of soccer teams I was required to like (under penalty of break up, lol) We share a passion for Penn State Football (he graduated from there and so did my Dad) books, and sci-fi shows. We attend the PA Renn Faire every season and even dress up for pirate weekend and the various Irish/Scottish weekends. We are wine snobs who have WAY too many bottles and we both love being home together each night for dinner. Aside from football and fighting over how cold he likes the bedroom at night, we get along way too well, it’s a bit frightening actually.. lol.

About the e-session + The Dr. Who connection:

The location didn’t hold any significance to us but Dr. Who does. He got me started watching it when we started dating and I am now obsessed with the show. I had gone out to West Virginia in June this year for a baby shower and was heading home on the third.. when I got in he told me he had a few surprises

“First, we have corn for dinner!” (I love corn)
“The other surprise is in the room” and the bed had purple and blue rose petals and the TARDIS was on my pillow. I opened the box and burst into tears. He was on one knee and asked “well, will you..” I nodded and fell on my knees in front of him and kissed him.

We are planning a destination wedding to Riviera Cancun.
