A Sweet and Bloody Zombie Love Story Styled Wedding Shoot
Happy Halloween! Whether we like it or not, zombies are everywhere in pop culture these days — even weddings. So if you’re among the numerous couples who have an appreciation for the dark and the bloody, then hold on to your brains because today’s feature, a creepy crawly Zombie love story / wedding styled shoot, will be sure to entertain and hopefully inspire you as you plan your special day in a decidedly offbeat way.
We have Stevi Sayler Photography to thank for this very fun submission and here she is to give us an overview:
The shoot involved two models, Regi and Ryan who are our lovely couple who got pretend married for us. The elegantly styled wedding shoot was held outdoors at the rustic and stunning venue, Northern Lights Christmas Tree Farm out in Pleasant Hill.
It began with lovely detailed shots of our table set up, dresses, rings, and the cake. Now here’s where the fun stuff starts — our lovely couple has come to the area where they will be married at a lovely altar in a gorgeous garden only to realize they are not alone! A pack of blood-thirsty zombies approaches from around the corner coming right at them! Thankfully Ryan is able to get his lovely bride away from the pack before they are both consumed, but not before our lovely bride Regi is bitten on the arm! They get away, dodging one final attack only to find that Regi has already started to change and she would quickly be as blood thirsty as the rest of them! Ryan stares into Regi’s lifeless eyes to see that she hasn’t fully changed, there is still a spark, still a tiny hint of the girl he once loved. With that sight and that hope, he decides to risk it, to stay with her and marry his zombie bride! This may be a little cheesy, but it was absolutely amazing!!
And so they lived happily ever after… or did they really? 🙂
I asked Stevi about how the idea for the shoot came about and this is what she told me:
It was such a blast and it turned out wonderfully! I have been a crazy zombie movie fan for as long as I can remember and I have always wished I could be on the set of a zombie movie snapping stills and hanging out with zombies and that hasn’t happened just yet, so I decided I had to do the next best thing, create my own. I am primarily a wedding photographer so it was only natural that I bring in some local, amazing wedding vendors and create a shoot that matches my vision. All the vendors were happy to volunteer their time and services to the project which meant a lot to me and it make the shoot come together beautifully! We had everything a great wedding shoot needs, dress, flowers, cake, decor, venue, cute couple, make up and of course tons and tons of fake blood! The story and the shoot was my idea and as silly or ridiculous as it sounded in the beginning, everyone who worked with me was on board! I knew I wanted to involve zombies in this shoot and I also wanted that element of love that almost all of my work centers around so I came up with the story of the couple who loved each other so much nothing, not even the zombie virus could tear them apart! I feel it turned out amazingly close to my vision and was just the right amount of gruesome and cheesy!! I loved every minute of planning and executing this shoot, it was a zombie dream true!
Now for a few bride and zombie entourage portraits:
