Bethany & Justin’s Simply Chic and Sophisticated Wedding
Happy new week everyone! You already know by now that the weddings we feature are always centered on the uniqueness of each couple and how the elements in their wedding reflect who they are. For Bethany and Justin, DIYed-with-family-and-friends-details and the choice of bridal attire was what made it especially different. The couple’s parents helped build, paint and assemble their reception decor, and Bethany, known to be a fashionista, expressed herself in a show-stopping and sexy non-traditional wedding dress that she helped design, as you’ll see in a bit.
We have the always awesome Sara & Jason Martin of Concept Photography to thank for the stunning photos. Please enjoy!
From here on out beautiful bride Bethany will tell us all about herself & Justin and take us through their wedding details:
While on a weekend getaway to St. Augustine, Justin proposed to me atop the historic St. Augustine Light House. He works in agricultural sales throughout Central and South Florida. while I work for the jewelry brand Bourbon and Boweties. In our spare time together we enjoy traveling, spending time with our friends and family and live music.
Our wedding was a reflection of us, simple yet sophisticated. We did not have a theme but it really reflected our own personal style. I did not necessarily draw inspiration from one particular source – other than our minds.
(Such a cute non-first-look “first look” shot, right? )
My favorite design element — hands down, was our attire. As someone who enjoys fashion, I knew I wanted a dress that wasn’t “typical” and I definitely achieved that. After browsing several bridal magazines and even shopping for a dress, I knew that a traditional wedding dress was not for me. My dress was an expression of my personality and personal style. I worked with my friend, Sheryll to select a gown that was close to my vision and then added to it to make it truly unique.
Apart from my own dress, I wanted something different for each of my bridesmaids. We had a blast shopping all over the state of Florida (and even into Alabama) to find the perfect dress for each bridesmaid. All of their dresses reflected their personalities and personal style as well.
Our entire wedding was a team effort and it was really hands on. The centerpieces were completely DIY. The wine bottles and antique candlesticks were all painted by my grandfather and Justin and I assembled the centerpieces by hand. My mom made all of the bouquets. Thanks to a great group of friends, our vision was brought to life in the decoration process.
Instead of a traditional wedding cake, we decided on a dessert buffet. It was filled with an amazing assortment of gourmet desserts – including maple bacon cheesecake bites that were divine. We had a small chocolate cake that we used for cutting.
As stated above, we love live music so that was really added a touch of “us” to the reception. Dancing the night away with all of our fabulous friends and family was one of the most memorable moments of our wedding day.
Huge thanks to Sara and Jason for sending their gorgeous photos my way, and congratulations to Bethany and Justine! I wish you guys a lifetime of married bliss.
