Tram & Andrew’s Chic and Craft-filled Art Museum Wedding with 1000 Paper Cranes

1000 paper cranes wedding

Happy Monday! Tram and Andrew didn’t have a theme in mind while they were planning their wedding — they just went all out in infusing it with fun, lovingly hand-crafted details that represented things they like.  From the alternative ceremony venue — a modern art gallery — to the handmade bouquets & quirky DIY Lego cuff links and boutonnieres all the way down to the 1000 paper cranes the bride folded herself, their celebration ended up being a perfect reflection of who they are.

GORGEOUS photography by Rina and Anthony Chan with Infused Studios was the icing on the cake, as you’ll see in a bit. They also provided this behind-the-scenes look at Tram and Andrew’s day:

Legend has it that if you fold 1,000 paper cranes a crane will grant you a wish. For Tram, who folded 1,000 paper cranes to decorate the ceremony space, her wish had already been granted.
“The part I will never forget started when I was standing behind the back doors at the Art Gallery with my dad and the doors opened and we stepped out. The moment we turned out and I saw Andrew looking out at me, I just lost it, I just couldn’t hold back the tears. Just the look of love and happiness on his face. I knew i was such a lucky girl to have such an amazing man standing in front of me and waiting for me to come to his side.” – Tram’s most memorable moment

Andrew showed how much he cared for Tram & her family by asking for permission not just to marry her, but before he even started dating her! That same care & consideration was evident in their wedding through all the DIY elements & personal touches. Guests received handmade invitations (made with a little help from StampinUp) and the programmes were designed by Andrew with the help of a friend. Some of the paper cranes cascaded from an arch; the backdrop to Tram + Andrew’s I Do.

The reception turned into their own personal best of cinema; favourite Disney movies for table names & a popcorn & cotton candy machine for guests to enjoy two of Tram + Andrew’s favourite snacks.

Tram’s DIY talent included making the bouquets & buttonnieres, while her veil was handmade by a family friend. The groomsmen received carefully sourced Lego cufflinks that best reflected their personalities.

About the couple, in the lovely Tram’s own words:

Andrew is a Nurse and I work in the insurance industry. We met all the way back in high school but we didn’t start dating until we were in university. We both love traveling and through the years we have both developed a love for cooking and for food in general. We’re both big kids at heart and we’re both very easy going people.

About their wedding and how the couple made it uniquely theirs:

When we first started planning we had all sorts of crazy ideas and it was honestly gonna be a pretty cookie cutter wedding. But as we got into it and started thinking about things we started personalizing everything and started making things, to add a personal touch to the wedding that you just don’t get any more with lots of weddings we’ve been to. It all started with the cranes, then the invitations, then flowers and so almost everything from the wedding was homemade. So we really didn’t have a theme in mind but it just went with what we liked and what we felt was right.

I spent a lot of time making many of the things for the wedding or putting on my personal touch. I made the cranes for the arch and put them together one by one, I made the invitations and the save the dates, bouquets and boutonnieres, cufflinks, I even glittered all the candles that we used in the centerpieces (I’m still cleaning up glitter from that) and so much more. So what made it unique was that Andrew and I infused ourselves into the whole wedding

Some advice from the newlyweds:

My advice for people planning their wedding would be to be yourself and do what makes you happy and not what will make other people happy, like friends and family. Time to stand up for yourself a bit and be who you are. At the end of the day your wedding is a celebration of your love and you should be happy.
