Heather & Jay’s Sweet Red and Pink Flight-themed Wedding

Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! This lovely couple met aboard a plane, talked for hours and fell in love. Sounds like a scene from a movie, right? For Heather & Jay though it was fate… and sweet reality, which totally makes it the perfect feature for this day of hearts, eh? Add to that the pink and red airplane and flight and travel-themed elements which added a whimsical touch to their celebration: paper planes, luggage tag escort tags, etc. Photographer Angela Tappen with A. Tappen Photography has the rest of the details:

Heather and Jay each boarded a plane as strangers. Little did they know that fate had brought them together as they sat next together on the way from Orlando to Phoenix. Who says you can’t find love 10,000 miles up in the air? This personal moment was incorporated into very part of their day. From the plane ticket wedding invite to the paper airplane send off, every detail was a symbol of their love for each other!

About the couple, in the lovely bride’s own words:

Jay and I like to think we were destined for each other.  We met on an airplane that neither one of us planned to be on two days prior to flying.  We were seated next to each other for four hours.  We were (are) the same age and grew up about an hour and a half from each other.  It was meant to be.

Heather, on their wedding’s theme and how it relates to them as a couple:

Since we met on an airplane, and Jay so cleverly proposed on an airplane, we decided it was only right to bring the flight theme into our wedding plans.  I lived on Etsy and Pinterest for about 3 months… so much inspiration!

How often does a groom DJ his own wedding?  Jay is a house music DJ in Los Angeles, CA.  Most of our friends and family have never heard him spin, so it was a great opportunity for him to share his love of music with all of our guests and a great surprise for me to turn around and see him on the decks.  He rocked the dance floor for about 20 minutes before I stole him back to dance with me.

Some advice from the couple:

We found that with our theme, there were lots of details that we wanted to be perfect day of, so assignments were imperative.  Everyone was in charge of something on our wedding day, and it really went off beautifully.
