Robin & Stuart’s DIY Rustic Barn Wedding with Modern Graphic Details
Hello everyone, we made it to Friday! How romantic is this photo? I hope your virtual pins are ready because this lovely couple’s wedding is filled with thoughtfully-designed details that the artistic twosome personally handpicked and assembled. Robin has an interior design background while Stuart does woodworking as a hobby — a perfect creative match, yes? Naturally their wedding decor showcased their creative collaboration to a T. Think rustic elements like wood and chalkboards mixed with eclectic modern graphics like bold chevron stripes & damask elements in fresh color combinations… as you’ll see the crafts turned out amazing.
Once again we have Nicole Chan Photography to thank for the beautiful photos. Enjoy!
About the couple and their wedding, in pretty Robin’s own words:
I knew we were meant to be when we first hugged. Both being on the short side we fit together perfectly. Stuart is in the corporate world by day and a woodworker/jack of all trades by night. Robin is an Interior Designer by day and all things crafty by night. Together we make a pretty good team designing, scheming and implementing a project. When our equally stubborn always right personalities are in check of courseJ. Stuart is from MO and Chicago, Robin is from Florida. Now living outside of Boston where Robin is still collecting a real winter wardrobe and dreaming of warm weather!
I called it classic romantic barn, lol. Our theme was all about the colors/patterns and vintage details. We collected all the hobnail milk glass and bell jars for the florist’s arrangements. That was fun and challenging but meant so much more to us. Personalization was important to us.
Besides making/designing everything involving the décor we designed and made the photo booth wall. Even the camera/printer set up. As an Interior Designer it was actually the first time I had ever wallpapered myself. That wall is now being used as a prop in a booth I rent at a Vintage Mall for resell items. Each ribbon was hand cut for the gazebo curtains and cake table. Table runners, bouquet wraps, bridesmaid’s purses were all hand crafted. We designed the cake design. Special crafts and toys at our kiddie guest seats.
Helpful advice from the newlyweds:
Give yourself time! I’m a planner by nature and still wanted more timeJ. But the more you do ahead of time the less stress near your big day. More time to spend with family and friends instead of running around with your head cut off. While 9 months away sounds like a long time if you factor in parties, shopping, mishaps it will be gone in a flash!
Thank you Nicole for sending this wonderful wedding my way, and congratulations Robin and Stuart! I wish you a lifetime of married bliss.
