Morgan & Chad’s Sweet Sunny Day Wedding in a Barn
Welcome to another week of funky wedding inspiration! I had a hard time choosing images for the layout of today’s feature because EVERYTHING was just too beautiful — the grey and yellow vintage-rustic decor (which the crafty bride DIYed herself!), the sun-kissed scenery, and of course Morgan and Chad who simply glowed with love and happiness in EACH of their shots together. Everything was captured to perfection by Melissa Stallings Photography who had this to say about the day:
Morgan + Chad’s Edenton NC wedding was one of THE most fun and laid back weddings I’ve ever been a part of! From their DIY decorations and family made food, to the gorgeous bride who did her own hair and make-up, to their friend’s rock band (Gridlock 64!) that was the entertainment for the night, to the happy couple wanting their final photos of the wedding day riding off on their bicycles… the day simply ROCKED. What a blast to photograph! I’m so thankful to have been part of such a fun wedding day 🙂
From here on I will let the pretty Morgan tell you all about herself & Chad and their wedding:
I have known my husband for about 8 years – and about 6 years ago he actually asked me to be his girlfriend. Get ready for this: I said NO!!! But as the years passed and we became even better friends and I started to realize that maybe I DID want to be his girlfriend, he wouldn’t ask me anymore! So, about 3 years ago, I decided that I was gutsy enough to ask him if he’d be my boyfriend…and he said YES!!! Of course, the day he asked me to marry him, I did not hesitate AT ALL when I said YES! We are very laid back and that was kind of how we wanted our wedding to be. He is in the Navy, so he was gone a lot while I was planning the wedding, which worked out for him! We actually originally planned on getting married this year, but when he was scheduled to leave for deployment for 9 months in February of this year (he left on Valentine’s Day…UGH), I quickly decided that I didn’t want to wait until after he got back to get married, so I planned the wedding in about 5 months! And it turned out great!
If I had to pick a theme, I would say vintage (I love lace), rustic, DIY, super relaxed and laid back…if that’s even a theme! haha! Having it in a barn was definitely high on my priority list, so I was so glad that we were able to pull that off.
I am very crafty and love DIY projects, so I literally made every decoration for our wedding. From the banners, to the centerpieces, to the flower girl baskets and ring bearer pillow, to bouquets and boutonnieres for the whole wedding party! I had fun doing it (although I was definitely stressed out at times) and I couldn’t have been happier with the way it turned out when everything was put together!
We also had our friends band play at our reception, and they were awesome as well!!! It was definitely a great party!
We brought our bikes to do our “farewell” pics, and they are some of my absolute favorite photos from the whole day!!
If I had to give some words of advice, it would definitely be to have your hand in whatever part/s of the wedding planning that you can. I literally had my hands in everything, and I was SO PLEASED with the way everything turned out. If you really care about it matching up to an idea in your head, then be a big part of the planning!!! It really pays off!
Huge thanks, Melissa for sending your GORGEOUS images my way, and congratulations Morgan & Chad! I sincerely wish you guys a lifetime of married bliss. 🙂
