Candace & Ben’s Sweet Summery Mountain View Wedding
Welcome to another week filled with beautiful wedding inspiration! Candace and Ben got hitched in the beautiful town of Glen Spey, New York. Less than two hours from Manhattan. this area of rolling hills, dramatic rivers, and sweet little bridges was the perfect area for the families to meet. They didn’t focus on a theme but instead made sure that their wedding would be a wonderful retreat where their friends and loved ones could relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city. A few DIY elements were present, as well as some specially hand-picked details like pretty flower umbrellas for the bridesmaids, a calendar for guests’ birthdays, and Himalayan salt candle holders (which doubled as favors) — complete proof that their celebration was about their guests just as much as the two of them.
I’m also very happy to have Evangeline Lane‘s gorgeous photographic work grace these pages again! The Cape Cod Beachside Clambake wedding shot by Evangeline was one of the first wedding features on this blog when it was just starting out. 🙂
From this point on I will let the lovely Candace tell you more about her and Ben and their beautiful mountain wedding:
We met at work a little over 7 years ago and lived in Boston until our recent relocation to Brussels. Right now we are enjoying our new life together and our European travels. Although we have been living in cities for over the last decade, we both love being in nature whether it being long walks through the parks, camping, bike rides on beaches, kayaking down the Delaware River, or relaxing at a BBQ with friends.
Our wedding focused on the party and how to make it a total blast!! We didn’t have a theme but really tried to make it light and airy as the summer days in the NY mountains.
We really tried to focus on our guests and how to ensure they had the best time! We were going for a very comfortable, colorful mood. The location and venue were so warm and welcoming that we thought it was a perfect place to share the special moments together there. The nature around us was very familiar to me and it was awesome to be sharing all it had to offer with so many of our loved ones. Small details included the guest favors of Himalayan Salt Candle holders, which were dual purposed as table lighting. In the months following our wedding we would visit friends and realized they were more popular than we thought they would be…and certainly brings you right back to that amazing day! We also had a calendar out for our guests to sign on their birthdays – I love to send cards and this will allow me not to miss one! Another detail was the personalized coasters that marked that day for us – we also found these in a lot of guests’ houses later :).
One of my favorite times during our wedding day was when my then fiancé and I shared a glass of champagne in our bridal suite, watching as our guests arrived and had some quiet time together to reflect on what was about to happen and how exciting it all was. I would say enjoy those little moments throughout the day as it was the fastest day of our lives!!
Thank you Evangeline for sending your beautiful images my way, and congratulations Candace and Ben! I wish you a lifetime of married bliss. 🙂
