Venice & Lucio’s Artistic, Colorful, and Craft-filled Spring Garden Wedding
Venice and Lucio’s were destined to find one another halfway around the world from their home country Taiwan. They met as students in Chicago and, having discovered a shared love for art, music, travel, and stuffed toys, feelings blossomed sure enough. Their wedding was a celebration of their love and the many friendships they forged in a foreign land. Every bit of themselves was put into the special day, from the plush toy ‘ringbearer’ and the vows they sang to one another to the many artistic DIYed details that reflected their creative spirits.
We have Nathan Bell with Richard Bell Photography to thank for this submission and of course the stunning photographs on this page. Enjoy. 🙂
Both from Taiwan, Venice and Lucio met in September 2009 in Chicago’s Northwestern University which they both attended for graduate school. The two of them love painting (they enrolled in an art class together), traveling, singing, watching movies, and playing with their plush toys. In fact they have a dedicated Facebook page for their stuffed animal friends. They currently have 5 Bolts (stuffed dogs) in different sizes and a growing family of stuffed animals (recent additions include a huge ‘Ted’ bear and ‘Olaf’ from the Disney movie “Frozen”).
Venice aspires to be “a cool mom that my kids respect and are proud of” and Lucio is aiming to be “a scientist/engineer who will make a huge impact to the world.”
When asked for their dream wedding to-do list, here is what Venice listed down:
1. We will sing our vows during the ceremony.
2. Also we are thinking about doing a “balloon release” with all guests at the end of the ceremony.
3. In the opening of ceremony, our plush dog “Little Bolt” will enter the ceremony on a RC car, and (perhaps) scatter some flower petals.
4. At 9:30am, our parents will arrive in the conservatory in a limo. That’s the only limo ride we have for the day.
5. At the end of ceremony, the guests will be blowing “wedding bubbles” as the couple leaves the ceremony site.
As you will see below, the wedding unfolded the way they had envisioned it…
Foremost in the couple’s minds when planning their wedding was their guests:
Most of the guests came from foreign countries originally and we are fortunate enough to meet each other thousands of miles away in this country. We chose the colors pink blush and lavender blue, with a touch of elegance and romance while embracing the colorful spring blossoms in the plantation. We want to put a smile on every guest’s face and their heart when they are thinking of our wedding in the future, and everything is built around this goal.
Don’t you just love these kissing boy and girl paper dolls?
Venice and Lucio on their wedding, in a nutshell:
It’s a celebration of our love, the friendship with all our guests, courage, and destiny. Life is not so easy when we are abroad by ourselves but we have been lucky to have a lot of people supporting us and cheering us on. We really want to show our appreciation to everyone coming to our wedding because they are all very special to us.
Huge thanks to Nathan and Lauren for sending this gorgeous wedding my way, and congratulations to Venice and Lucio! I wish you a lifetime of married bliss. 🙂
