Erin & Ben’s Romantic and Timeless Black and White Wedding

Welcome to another week of wedding inspiration! Last year, I featured Erin and Ben’s frolicsome art district e-session — one of my favorite shoots ever — which was photographed by the always-awesome Sara and Jason Martin of Concept Photography and today, I’m delighted to share their beautiful wedding with you.

When wedding planning began, they wanted to focus on giving their family and close friends a wonderful time so they kept the celebration cozy and simple. “Once we found our dream venue, we realized the space had so much character already and wanted to keep the décor understated,” Erin shared. They kept the look classic with black & white elements and enhanced it with funky, contemporary details that reflected their fun personalities.

Again we have Sara and Jason to thank for the gorgeous images. Enjoy!

As mentioned earlier, you’ve already met lovelytwosome Erin and Ben through their fun Wynwood Art District e-session. I’m glad to have them here again to tell you all about their gorgeous wedding this time:

My husband and I love and live to laugh. We enjoy mostly spending time together whether we are sitting on the couch or traveling someplace new. Florida State Football and Miami Heat Basketball are a very big deal in our house. We try to live life simply, enjoy the little things every chance we get, enjoy doing anything outdoors and we work hard but play hard too. 🙂

Our ceremony was officiated by my mother’s best friend since before I was born. Marla, who became an ordained minister for our wedding did such an amazing job articulating our love and what is meaningful in our relationship and she created a ceremony that touched on all of the things that are important to us. It was completely special that she created our ceremony from start to finish and she is also a very special person in our lives.

We handed out sunglasses with our names – that was a big hit. Our thank you was  a donation to my cousin’s non-profit organization, The Kenya Education Fund in lieu of party favors.

My favorite design element of the wedding was the candles. After the dream venue was chosen, I told our florist “make the room look like it is on fire”.  Boy he did. That element of romance can only be captured with candlelight and it turned out beautiful.

Our wedding was definitely “simple”. Everything was black and white down to the cake with a common goal I wanted to keep everything clean and timeless.

Our wedding small, mostly family and very close friends and all I remember is smiling and dancing so much my entire body and even face face muscles hurt. It was completely surreal.

There were rare moments we had to step back and watch our closest family and friends come together from all over the country — some reuniting and some meeting for the first time, really enjoying themselves. Everyone was SO happy to be together celebrating our wedding it filled my heart with so much happiness.

Words of advice from the newlyweds:

Be present in each and every moment. It is very easy to stress and focus on the most insignificant details as you want everything to go perfectly. Focus on the important things like your husband, the people who traveled and took time from their lives to share the occasion with you. Nothing is perfect and things will go wrong but it really doesn’t matter because its your WEDDING DAY!!
