Michelle & Kyle’s Sunny Afternoon Beach Wedding
Happy new week, dear Poptastic Bride readers. 🙂 Are you still racking your brains for the perfect wedding theme? Why don’t you take inspiration from Michelle and Kyle whose beach-and-Italian restaurant celebration was a true reflection of their likes and loves, from the venues to the details!
We have Julia Gargano with Julia Jane Studios to thank for the submission and here she is with a behind the scenes look at the special day:
Michelle & Kyle were married on the beach in Belmar, NJ. After the ceremony, we headed over to Spring Lake for some pictures by the water and ended up in Brielle for their intimate afternoon reception at Due Amici Italian Restaurant. The food was served family style and was course after course of deliciousness. The restaurant was decorated with personal touches, included Michelle & Kyle’s favorite quotes, uno card (one of their favorite games) table numbers, and barber striped candles (both Michelle & Kyle are stylists) After the reception we headed over to Manasquan Beach for some sunset portraits by the water. The wedding was fun, fresh, and truly celebrated who Michelle & Kyle were as a couple.
Please welcome the beautiful Michelle who’s here to tell you all about herself & Kyle and their wedding:
My husband are definitely a case of love at first sight. I met him while I was making an appointment at White Lotus Tattoo in Toms River. He was just helping them out with the books and the shop. I saw him and knew I wanted to talk to him. I always say that he has such kind eyes and I knew he would be a nice guy. His friends make fun of us for that, but we know its true. The artist I usually go to asked why I looked so glum, and I explained to him that I just signed up for online dating and that was depressing. So he initially started asking what I was looking for and everything on my list had Kyle written all over it. So Kyle and I started talking and haven’t stopped.
Kyle was going to start commuting back to Philly to be a barber. He had lived there for about 3 years while going to school for cosmetology and found the job he had. After a while of commuting and talking about getting married and starting a family, he decided to find a job back in New Jersey. He is in the process of getting his NJ cosmetology license while working at a Honda dealership where he worked before starting his career as a barber. He hopes to teach cosmetology one day.
I am currently still a stylist at Le Palais Hair Lounge in Brielle,NJ. We shared quite a passion for hair and it was comforting that we understood the ups and downs of working in a salon and this industry as a whole. It made it very easy to talk to him about everything. We spent about three weeks just spending time together and talking before we knew we were going to get married. We met in September, got engaged in March/April, and got married that September. Quick, I know but it was just right. We now reside in Brick, NJ with our pit mix Jackson and cat Fozzy (with baby on the way!).
Our wedding theme was “Us.” We didn’t want a beach theme, or tattoo theme. We wanted to include everything that made us, us. We had many people say “why are you going to do that?,” but we didn’t care. It made the day super special and memorable for everyone that was there.
One of the most personal touches I think was when we asked my brother to marry us. He was honored and got ordained online very quickly.
We had a mix of so many things. I have known Julia since high school and reconnected with her on Facebook. After I had seen her work I knew I wanted her to be the photographer ( before I even met Kyle). The person responsible for the paper products, Helen Yavarone, I have known since Nursery school. She and her husband also provided music for our ceremony.
Our place card holders where little Buddhas. We both had an interest in that culture because of the peace and serenity that came along with it.
We had quotes printed and framed that helped describe our love.
The centerpieces consisted of the barber pole, a beach looking cylinder, and one with a floating lotus. The barber pole obviously because of our jobs, the beach one because we both loved the beach and grew up pretty much on it, and the lotus because that’s where we met.
Our music selection was also pretty unique. Our friends loved it so much.
Some advice that I like to tell people who are in the process of getting married is to make it about them. Don’t let anyone tell you something is silly and that you shouldn’t do something because it isn’t “normal”. You may have to compromise with some things, but don’t budge on what will make your wedding “yours”.
Thank you Julia for sending your lovely images my way, and congratulations Michelle and Kyle! I sincerely wish you a lifetime of married bliss! 🙂
