Stephanie & Tim’s Video Game-Playing and Play-Acting E-session
Stephanie and Tim met through theater and as photographer Liz Lui told me, you can easily tell that they’re actors by their total willingness to just all-out play around the camera as you’ll see in a bit. Being self-professed geeks and gamers, it was only natural to start out their e-session playing video games. They also happen to be wearing matching “Game of Thrones” rings for fun before being officially wed this fall in a theater-themed wedding complete with a ceremony on stage — just how cool is that?!
Don’t you just love how Tim’s purple shirt matches Stephanie’s awesome purple hair? Let’s find out more about the couple from the pretty bride-to-be herself:
Tim works as a real estate appraisal and I am a yoga instructor. We are both HUGE nerds who love reading comics and playing video games together. We have a great dynamic as a team so naturally cooperative gameplay is very appealing to us. Got a two player game? Count us in!
Aren’t they adorable? Their love story is cute as heck too…
We met at a callback for a production of Noel Coward’s “Private Lives”. Tim didn’t get cast into the role and I was so disappointed that I’d gotten in and he hadn’t. He said he had trouble nailing the British accent required for the part. He was very tall, talented, and had a brilliant smile. I invited him to the show a month later and he actually came! After the show, I invited him for drinks, which he politely declined, but I insisted on the two of us having dinner the following evening. Instant connection. We’ve been together ever since.
That same summer four months later, we were both in a production of “Macbeth” where he played the lead Macbeth and I played Lady Macbeth. The very last night of the show after we had our curtain call and did our bows, Tim (still in character) got down on one knee and proposed. Four years later, we have a loft condo in the Greektown neighborhood of Chicago.
We love living in the city. Greektown is our favorite place to be. All the restaurants are outstanding (we love to cook and love to eat even more), the atmosphere is fun, and the West Loop is wonderfully family friendly. It made sense to have our engagement session right around the old familiar haunts. Our favorite time of year is the Taste of Greece in August when they shut down a couple of blocks of Halsted for all the local businesses to bust out their wares and delicious food. There is nothing better than a beautiful late summer day with a cold glass of Hillas beer and some fresh grilled octopus.
We are so excited to be having our wedding onstage at the Rialto Square Theater in Joliet on September 26th. Getting married in a theater was an absolute no-brainer since so much of our personal history has revolved around the theater. We cannot wait!
Thank you Liz for sending your beautiful images my way, and congratulations on your engagement Stephanie and Tim! Happy wedding planning! 🙂
