Heather & Jeevez’ Books and Beer a.k.a. Jane Austen meets Punk Rock E-session
Leave it to Kira Friedman of Harper Point Photography to send me such crazy-cool shoots to feature! Long time readers might remember her work via Jax & Michael’s Eclectic Bring-Your-Own-Awesome Wedding. This time we have Heather and Jeevez and their punk-rock-meets-pride-and-prejudice e-session which pretty much defined the creative twosome.
A little punk and a little quirky. My first suggestions was clearly PBR so went to the smallest bar in Colorado called The Town Pump in Fort Collins to get rolling. Next stop was Bizarre Bizarre which is a record/ book shop, one of my favorite places to get lost in for a few hours. Then we ended with a little woodsy adventure to tie into their wedding theme which is pride and prejudice meets punk…well you get the idea.
About the couple, in the lovely Heather’s own words:
I never put much stock in that whole “when you meet the right one you’ll know” philosophy, but it really is true. Jeevez and I met at a local rock show here in Denver and have pretty much been inseparable ever since. I “rescued” him from a bunch of girls fawning over his mohawk, after which he came and found me when he got inside. Two PBRs and a shot of Jameson later and that was it. We really are a little “punk rock love story.” We hung out every day, started dating and three months in at our good friend Rob’s birthday barbecue he got down on a knee and popped the question.
I think you can best describe us as two creative people who love good music, cooking, fishing and Irish whiskey. I’m a user interface and lead graphic artist at SpireMedia and he’s a Chef at Inga’s Alpine Lounge. We can usually be found doing one of those things at any given point. When we’re not, he loves playing guitar, misses being in a band (he played in a couple when he lived in Philly) and I can usually be found behind a computer screen or reading a book – one of my favorites, Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice played a big part in the last set of photos we took at the park during our engagement session and our whole wedding. He was very patient with me and our what’s been dubbed “English Tea” wedding.
Heather, on their e-session:
Being creative people it was really important for us to find a photographer who not only did amazing work but would get us and capture that in our photography. Kira and the team at Harper are simply amazing. They sent a little questionnaire about why we wanted to work with their studio when we first contacted them. It pretty much boiled down to if I wanted photography that looked like my cousin took it, I’d hire my cousin.
We wanted to capture our love for music, spending time with each other and the overall relaxed nature we both have. Our engagement photos were taken at three separate locations that Kira found for us after we spent a few hours just rambling on about us and what we like to do. The first set was taken in a little used record and book store in old town Fort Collins. Then we went to probably one of the most amazing little bars down the street called The Town Pump and wrapped up in a park around sunset. We got eaten alive my mosquitos and attempted climbing a tree in cowboy boots – it was entertaining to say the least.
I’ll be the first one to tell you I hate having my picture taken and Kira made us feel so comfortable. It was just like any ordinary day for us, plus a few fancy clothes. We got to do the things we always like doing, sifting through music, sitting around having a beer and been goofy and going for a walk in the wilderness. It was really special to just have those moments and have them captured by an amazing team. We didn’t want any of what I would call the silly/mushy/smoochy engagement photos you always see and they made sure we didn’t. It was great.
Huge thanks, Kira for sending your gorgeous images my way, and congratulations Heather and Jeeves! I wish you guys a happy forever. 🙂
