Amanda & Graham’s Fun, Frolicsome Date in Downtown Oklahoma City (E-session)
As you’ve seen on this blog several times before, among the types of e-sessions that best showcase the couple at their most natural is the “going-on-a-date” kind. And this is what the adorable Amanda & Graham did. The result, as you see is a fun shoot that really allowed the duo’s playful, loving relationship to shine.
We have Robyn Icks Photography to thank for the lovely photos and here she is to tell you more about the shoot:
These two lovebirds in the following photos just happen to be my two best friends, and they’re getting married to each other! I couldn’t be happier for them, and just know their marriage is going to rock in every way.
When planning their engagement portrait session, Amanda pretty much suggested traveling to every place where they could either eat or drink. So that’s what we did! We traveled to the adorable T, an Urban Tea House so they could share a pot of earl grey tea, to Panera Bread for some breakfast, and even stopped at McNellie’s Pub in Midtown. But it’s totally okay, because we also rented two bikes from the Spokies Bike Share Program and they rode off some of those calories. 😉 So this was definitely the definition of a Downtown engagement portrait session.
Let’s get to know the couple a little better. Heeere’s dapper groom-to-be Graham with all you need to know about himself and his lovely Amanda:
Amanda and I met through our mutual friends Sonny and Robyn, who would later become Mr. and Mrs. Icks, and, after several years of being the only ones oblivious to how compatible we were, our friends set us up by inviting us both to a They Might Be Giants concert. It was around that time when she and I began spending more time together sans-Icks’ and discovered how much alike we were in various ways including our mutual enjoyment of the occasional drink (our first couple of dates were spent at karaoke bars), but we also loved evening strolls, weird, obscure music and making each other laugh with our admittedly crass sense of humor.
Graham, on their e-session:
The engagement shoot with Robyn was a fun food and drink tour through Oklahoma City with stops at the Urban Teahouse where we sipped on earl grey before making a quick jaunt to Panera for a quick breakfast and impromptu part of our session that involved rearranging the patio furniture there, much to the chagrin of the Panera employees. From there we took a trip downtown and decided to burn off a few of those breakfast calories by renting bicycles from the city’s bike share kiosk where we perfected the art of ride-by kissing (which is harder than it looks). After that, we dropped in on McNellie’s Pub and had a drinks as we reminded ourselves just how awful we were at darts. (There were more than a few close calls involving wild and inappropriately timed throws, most of which never hit the board.)
It was a fun and memorable shoot with one of our best friends behind the lens, and, aside from the dressier clothes, it really felt natural and honest; a documented slice of life which was only slightly exaggerated for the sake of the occasion.
Thank you Robyn for sending your beautiful photos my way and congratulations Amanda and Graham! Happy wedding planning you guys 🙂
