Gillian and Andrew’s North Yorkshire wedding

I had the pleasure of corresponding with the lovely Gillian Bruce (nee Ripley) some months back when she and (now) husband Andrew chose our very own Owl and Pussycat wedding invitation to announce their celebration. Today I am pleased to present their fun wedding photos along their sweet wedding story in the bride’s own words!

Andrew is Scottish so brace yourselves for wedding portraits of the groom and members of his family in traditional kilts. Oh and Gillian has an interesting tidbit to share:  I can reliably inform you that it is true — Scottish men go bare as tradition underneath their kilts!

Andrew and I got married on 1st October 2011 in our lovely town of Harrogate in North Yorkshire. I’m unsure about how familiar you are with British climates, but October isn’t really best for temperatures, and it’s generally quite cold and rainy. Would you believe we actually had a heatwave? it was totally unexpected, but the weekend rocked temperatures of up to 28 degrees. This hasn’t happened in many years!

We used the town’s pretty registry office that is situated on The Stray (a large expanse of grassland in the heart of town) and had a late afternoon service at 5pm (I’m pregnant and wanted to take things really easy!). I had a fun day getting ready with the girls at our hotel, whilst my husband-to-be and his guys went to the local pub… 🙂

After a short civil service with a reading from my best friend, we headed round the corner to the Cedar Court Hotel, and ate, drank (lemonade for me…) and partied until 1am. We had the lovely Bridal Suite, and the staff were amazing at the hotel.

The following day, we jetted off to the South of France for more unexpected sunshine, and a beautiful château in the middle of nowhere. Bliss!
