Sara & Jack’s Rustic Fall Wedding at Monte Sano

Sara and Jack’s love bloomed in Monte Sano mountain so it was only natural that they chose to celebrate their union at their special place. Tree barks, lots of autumn leaves, and a slew of personal and handmade rustic details dot their simply sweet, chic and romantic wedding.

Photographer Sarah Brewer of Click Photo Designs shares:

I knew after Sara and Jack wanted to climb in a tree for their engagement photos that their wedding would be a lot of fun.  They are such a laid-back fun-loving couple and were up for anything as far as the pictures went.  The lodge in the local state park provided a colorful backdrop for their late fall wedding and they incorporated some personal decorations to tie into the rustic theme.  One of the  favorites was the personalized wood sign that they made together.  Another similar sign decorated the mantle at the reception.  We also tried to include the leaves and fall colors as much as possible in their photos.  My favorite photos of the day were taken just after sunset on a mountain overlook.  I knew that the couple wanted some fun photos as well so I suggested a leaf fight!  The couple was totally up for it and it made for some really fun photos!

Our lovely bride Sara was kind enough to intimate some details with us too:

Jack and I fell in love on Monte Sano Mountain and I think the trees and leaves remind us of first falling in love. When I was planning the wedding, I definitely wanted it to be simple and romantic.

I had an awesome beautiful dress. It was made by Justin Alexander and I got it from the Something Blue Shoppe in Hartselle, AL.

I had my bridesmaids write personal messages on my shoes for luck and for an awesome keepsake. I can still read them and one day my daughter will get to read them. It’s a simple and special memento from the day. As for our flowers, we chose to have hydrangeas and daisies in many shades of blue and purple.

We had one of our friends who had just been ordained by the Methodist Church marry us so that was special.

We made personalized napkins and favors online.  We had our favorite foods (Mexican and Asian) and drinks (specialty beer and wine), instead of the normal wedding food. We also chose to have cupcakes instead of the traditional wedding cake. We actually pick four different favors: white cake, chocolate cake with white icing, red velvet, and an Italian creme cake. We added chocolate dipped fortune cookies which we ordered online with personalized messages to our guests. I also made personalized Hersey kisses as well.

I got the idea for the wooden signs in Michael’s and it turned out to be a really easy and inexpensive project. We used the tree trunks as welcome signs and cool dinner decor. The tree trunks also added a romantic and outdoor atmosphere to the wedding.

The quilting squares were a way for our guests to give us marriage advice. My mom has already started putting them together in a quilt that I can keep forever to remind me of the wedding and the people that were there. We had some really funny quotes and some great marriage advice that we now get to keep.

The wedding was awesome and had a really comfortable feel to it. It really focused on our family, us coming together as a couple, and having fun. The whole experience was wonderful and in some ways magical because everything seemed to just come together perfectly.  I wouldn’t change a thing.

Thank you for giving us a peek into your big day,  Sara! Here’s wishing you and Jack a wonderful life together. Special thanks go to Sarah too for sharing the beautiful wedding photos with us.
