Chelsea & Andy’s Rustic and Relaxed Homemade Wedding

Remember Chelsea and Andy and their rockin’ band photo-inspired e-session featured here a few days back? Well I’m here to share their beautiful DIY wedding this time!

This young couple proves that with a little creativity, ingenuity plus tons of love and hands-on effort from family and friends, it is possible to have the wedding of your dreams… even on a college student’s budget.

The super-adorbs duo got married last year at  College Station in Texas and had a blast putting together their fun and relaxed celebration. Brandi of Country Sugar Events has nothing but good words to say about Chelsea and Andy and their handmade Texas wedding:

We were hired by the bride and groom for Month of Coordination and day of styling. Andy and Chelsea are the clients you sit around daydreaming about getting! There were an absolute delight and had such a laid back, funky, and genuine style. Chelsea DIY’d tons at her wedding and their personality was evident in every single detail. Everything was just plain fantastic.

I completely agree, and here are photos taken by Jackson Wright Photography to prove it!

Our ravishing bride Chelsea shares:

The mood we were hoping for was relaxed, homemade, thoughtful. Our color scheme was yellow and gray with muted greens. The outdoor venue was a must for us!

Our wedding was personalized top to bottom, for sure. Andy and I grew up together, so our pastor from home married us and told some jokes about what we were like growing up and dating.

All of the decor (literally!) was made by us and our friends. We were broke college students at the time, but weren’t willing to compromise our dreams because of a tight budget.

The cute custom topper is a gift from Chelsea’s mom. (See our feature on Star House toppers)

Andy plays drums in a band, so his band mates ran the sound and DJ booth to customize the music to our personalities. We had a WIDE array of music… The Beatles, Chromeo, City & Colour, Daft Punk, Earth Wind & Fire, James Taylor, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Michael Jackson, Prince (Prince, Prince, and More Prince), Stevie Ray Vaughan, Yeah Yeah Yeahs…. lots and lots more!

Some parting words of advice from Chelsea:

No matter how small your budget is, you CAN have the wedding of your dreams! The best piece of advice I can offer for any bride is to hire an event coordinator at least for the day-of coordination. Find a way to make it fit in your budget! Brandi at Country Sugar Events was invaluable to my wedding day. I’m the definition of a DIY bride, but honestly I wouldn’t have had the perfect wedding day that I experienced without her organizing the day. I would have been frantically running around!

A huge thanks to Brandi of Country Sugar for sending this lovely and inspiring wedding my way, and to Chelsea and Andy for letting us in on their special day!
