Lauren & Jason’s Quaint & Sweet Vintage Picnic Wedding

It’s the start of another week, dear Poptastic Bride readers so get ready for a flurry of funky and pretty! Yup, I think that’s how I want to describe the weddings I blog about on here — cool, creative, funky and pretty all at the same time. ūüôā

I’m excited for today’s entry because Lauren and Jason’s picture-perfect garden picnic wedding in Victoria, Australia is just so full of personality and eye candy and, oh, you’ll just have to see for yourselves…

It’s also my first time to blog about a wedding from the lovely land down under so I’m grateful to¬†the talented Melbourne/Victoria photographers¬†Erin and Tara Photography¬†for sending these charming photos my way!

Here’s what photographer Tara Pearce had to say about Lauren & Jason’s special day:

This lovely wedding was set in the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens on a rainy day.¬†The ceremony was in front of the old tea rooms where two tables sat filled with yummy sweets.¬†Guests filled the park’s table and chairs with picnics in old vintage suitcases.¬†Lauren arrived in a gorgeous vintage red car.¬†It was a very fun & colourful wedding day.

Don’t you just love this candid shot? Radiant bride Lauren was generous enough to share details of their special day with us:

Jason and I moved to Castlemaine in June and decided that if we were going to get married it would be in the Botanic Gardens as when we were searching for a place to buy we would always stop and have lunch here. Jason is a carpenter by trade and builds furniture.

We both have a love for vintage: Jason makes furniture in the arts ‘n’ crafts/Eames style. ¬†I am a writer/crafter and make toys, dolls and soft furnishings from vintage fabric. We have two boys, Jaxon, 8, and Kaya, 5.

Such a hip couple, these two. More from Lauren:

We decided to make our wedding have a vintage theme. I have never been a traditional type of bride, so to speak. I envisioned a 1950’s style dress with the crinoline underneath and searched high and low for one. I ended up going with a reproduction dress because it had polka dots. Jason wanted to wear a trilby hat and braces so we based that as a starting point for his outfit.¬†The car is a 1934 Ford T-bar. We are from the hot Rod capital of Australia so there are quite a few around here.

Our choice to have our wedding in Castlemaine was so that all our friends and family could join us in the beautiful town we had chosen to live in. We had guests come from Melbourne and as far as Wangaratta to be there. The wedding was centred around the old tearooms which provided a lovely backdrop and shelter when it rained. Although we had based the theme of our wedding around “vintage picnic” it did rain before the ceremony and about an hour after. We still got to have a little picnic but as the rain got heavier we all went inside to enjoy the yummy sweets inside the tea room.
