Tawnya & Lee’s Love and Frisbee Fun-Filled Farm Wedding

It’s the start of another week and here I am with another love-filled out-of-the-box wedding to inspire you dear readers!

Lovebirds Tawnya and Lee were brought together by their mutual passion for the outdoors and ultimate frisbee.  Their farm wedding luckily fell on a hot, sunny day which gave the adorbs couple a chance to run around the countryside with the barn animals, play lawn games, and  shoot playful, charmingly quirky photos that perfectly captured their fun-loving selves.

I fell in love with this awesome wedding at first sight so I’m beyond excited that I can share it with all of you today.

We have talented Ontario wedding photographer Andrew Paquet to thank for all the gorgeous photos you see on this page. Here’s what he had to say about the wedding:

Tawnya and Lee were married on an abnormally scorching September day, deep in the Waterloo,  Ontario countryside. Their wedding focused heavily on heart, passion, family / friends and ultimate frisbee. If you notice a higher-than-usual number of miniature donkey photographs, that would be due to the totally rad toy farm Tawnya’s parents own.

Here’s the beautiful Tawnya to tell us more about her and Lee and their wedding:

I grew up on a hobby farm north of Waterloo and moved to London, ON for school while Lee has lived here his whole life. My husband and I are big ultimate frisbee players and actually met in a park playing ultimate! We dated for almost 6 years and had a 4 month engagement. We love the outdoors and are active people.

I wanted a country wedding that was relaxed, simple and meaningful. We used the city boy/country girl idea on our invitations. We have lots of ultimate friends so we made sure there weren’t any tournaments going on the same weekend as our wedding.

Don’t you just love all of their fun, quirky portraits? Here’s the lovely bride again with some behind-the-scenes info:

I bought my dress used for $300 so I wasn’t worried about getting it dirty before the wedding for pictures at my parents’ farm. One of the donkeys actually left a little hoof mark on the bottom of it!

More from Tawnya:

The ceremony was held at my aunt and uncle’s farm and the reception was at a nearby community centre. My parents have peacocks on the farm so peacock colours and theme was included as well as orchids. Both my mom and I each have a number of orchids. Both peacock and orchids are very trendy for weddings but they have a lot of meaning for me and I have always wanted to use them for my wedding one day.

I’m not a fan of having all the girls look the same so they just had to find a dress in one of the 3 colours. Luckily for us we didn’t have to look too hard to find somewhat matching ties!

We had people sit on hay bales covered by quilts and flannel sheets. We also skipped the programs and just had the bridal party written on a chalk board. Our rings were passed around the audience in a clay dish for them to pray for and wish us blessings

The song we signed the registry to was a remixed version of “Kiss the Girl” from the Little Mermaid. The pond had a bunch of long reeds in it and we did the kiss after the signing… Lee and I thought it was funny even if no one else got it!

It’s awesome when brides & grooms personalize their weddings to reflect who they are. Here are a few more things Tawnya and Lee did to make their wedding uniquely theirs.

– Their favors were soap made by Tanwya’s mom
– Instead of having a traditional guest book, they had guests leave their thumbprints on a poster.
– They have a big hat collection which they employed in their photo booth which a friend ran for them.
– Only the two of them did a speech each after dinner and then it was party time!

Those donkeys look so sweet and absolutely cuddly. 🙂 Tawnya shares more about what went on:

We provided drinks and snacks as well as lawn games after the ceremony to give people something to do between the ceremony and reception (because that gap sucks) and to enjoy the beautiful property.

We were extremely fortunate to have one of the nicest days in September. It was actually really hot that day so everyone was sweating and people got sunburns!
