Nancy & Casey’s Modern Rustic Lingrow Farm Wedding

Hello and welcome to another week full of funky and pretty wedding inspiration! Nancy and Casey love nature and the outdoors so they decided to get married at Lingrow Farm, a lovely sprawling property with its own lake. Farms are always associated with rusticity but I thought today’s featured wedding successfully mixed rustic with stylish cosmopolitan touches so the result is a beautiful, hip, and modern celebration in a countryside setting.

This gorgeous photos you see on this page are courtesy of the fabulous Pittsburgh & North Carolina-based Carolyn Scott who had this to say about Nancy & Casey’s special day:

Nancy and Casey were married in a beautiful farm ceremony at the Lingrow Farm in Leechburg, PA. They incorporated a ton of rustic details that were designed and made by the family members, while the fireworks were provided by the Best Man as a surprise for the groom. The bride and groom met in high school, but weren’t dating until after graduation where they were reunited by mutual friends. They are now living together in North Dakota where Casey is the Operations Specialist for Grand Forks International Airport.

You may also notice an extra amount of kitty photos on here because Carolyn is a fellow cat lover, and, well, you already know how I can’t resist the furry litle creatures!

Her “something blue” — baby blue nail polish which Nancy asked her mani/pedi to paint on just the night before! And isn’t our bride pretty? Luckily she’s here to tell us their story:

Casey and I have known each other for a very long time.  We grew up in the same town and went to school together from kindergarten until high school.  We lost touch after high school, but reunited for drinks one night to cheer on the Pittsburgh Steelers at a local Pittsburgh favorite Primanti Brothers (restaurant/bar) and started dating. Our mothers were actually best friends growing up, and their parents (our grandparents) were neighbors!  We both love the outdoors. We got engaged during a get a weekend getaway to West Virginia, where we did some ATV riding, zip lining and hiking. We rented a cabin from Opossum Creek rentals.

My bouquet had my grandmothers wedding bands sewn onto the ribbon.

I thought the dark gold / brown bridesmaid dresses definitely gave a contemporary twist to the rustic setting. More from Nancy on how they came up with their wedding’s theme:

When planning our wedding, we knew we wanted to incorporate our love for the outdoors in a unique setting, which is why we chose Lingrow Farm.  We had our ceremony outside by the lake, and our reception in their Amish restored 1850’s barn, and the entire wedding party stayed at the beautifully restored farm house on the property.  Each room is so unique.  There is also original art throughout painted by the owner Linda.  She is also responsible for designing the water garden on the property. I wanted our wedding to be classic but tie in a little bit of nature.

I wanted my colors to be outdoorsy but again classic.  White, Ivory, Green, and Brown.  We did throw in some cranberry/orange just to give pops of color. My bridesmaids jewelry was hand made by my mother in law.

Nancy shares the many personal touches they incorporated to make their wedding uniquely theirs:

We decided our favors should be useful.  Our favors were green apples from a local farm wrapped in burlap with twigs for detail.  On the apples were a tea-dyed piece of paper that stated a donation had been made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of my sister in law Tammi Sinegal who has Cystic Fibrosis. She is such a strong individual with a positive outlook on life.  She has been through two lung transplants in the past 6 years so I wanted to honor her is some way. She was able to get a pass from the hospital on my wedding day, but just for an hour. Linda was fantastic, she agreed to set up WI-FI so we could Skype during the wedding and she could still be a part of it!  I am happy to report she is doing well now.

We also love animals and both volunteer at our local humane society so we loved the fact that the farm cats/dogs were roaming around the property.  Casey was also on the Equestrian team in college so he loved that the horses were on the property as well.

We used Casey’s fireman helmet and put the date of our wedding instead of his station number.  Firefighting as well as aviation are just a couple of his many passions.

Casey is Irish, so we also read an Irish blessing and had Irish whiskey at the wedding party table.

The fireworks were a surprise from the groomsmen.  An announcement was made for a toast and then for everyone to head to the outdoor patio! It was FANTASTIC!!

Some parting insights from our beautiful couple:

Planning a wedding on a budget does take some work, but it can be done.  We chose the three most important things to us…venue, food, and photography and then planned from there.  I loved my wedding and wouldn’t have changed one thing about it!!
