Gina & Attila’s Deserted Factory Day-After Session

A few weeks ago I put out an open call for Day After sessions because I decided to start featuring them. Day Afters are a wonderful opportunity to take artistic couple portraits in situations and locations that are impossible to manage on the wedding day itself and I wanted to showcase some creative ones here to inspire you. Sometimes the sessions evolve into Rock the Frock or Trash the Dress shoots but no matter what you want to call them, I promise that you’ll be seeing them on this blog beginning today. 🙂

Let’s start with this amazing shoot in a deserted factory in Budapest, Hungary. Gina and Atiila came attired in their formal wedding wear, but with a few “tweaks” here and there. Since they were shooting in a gritty setting with who-knows-what-they-might-step-on, they donned more grit-appropriate footwear in the form of barefoot running shoes (Attila) and hi-top sneakers (Gina) which also allowed them, Attila at least, to perform stunts whenever he felt like it.

I’m honored to present this  fantastic shoot as the first ever TTD/Day After session to grace this blog!  Once again we have Tundi and Laci of Budapest, Hungary-based Subjective Photography to thank for the amazing photos on this page (see more shoots by the talented photo duo here). Here’s what she had to say about the photo shoot:

Gina and Attila’s trash the dress session took place in the beginning of the summer somewhere in a forgotten factory building . Disregarding the fear of heights and the thick layers of dirt that accumulated for decades — we pushed through with the trash the dress because it is admittedly worthwhile. Through this shoot, we want to show both couples and fellow photographers that we can do some stunts!

Since Gina and Attila had to crawl on and under everything, we had to make the formal clothing more comfy through the use of relaxed accessories. This project wouldn’t have been possible without Attila’s FiveFinger shoes or Gina’s hi-top Converse sneakers. We also used my safety pin. And to crank it up, we did the shoot in an extremely cheerful mood, thanks to this happy couple’s astonishing sense of humor. Oh it was amazing guys! 🙂

Loving it so far? The beautiful married couple was also generous enough to share their love story:

On a fateful day in December 2009, Gina’s childhood buddy introduced them to one another. A period of friendship followed and they would send messages to each other. In May 2010 the printing-office girl and cinematographer-boy had a business meeting over coffee, 100 days later the proposal took place on the prow of a boat. In March 2011 they held a secret civil wedding ceremony and went straight to Asia for honeymoon. In May 2011 they celebrated their union with family and friends in a private ceremony in an abandoned little church. Since then they have led a happy & cheerful live and are hoping that the baby is on its way soon.
