Vera & Stephan’s Water Fun Trash the Dress Session in Sydney

I have to admit that the idea of “trashing” a wedding dress didn’t sit well with me in the beginning because I personally loved *my own* wedding dress and what it represents, but I slowly opened up to the idea after I saw such fun and meaningful shoots like the first TTD I posted, Gina & Attila’s Deserted Factory Day-After Session, as well as what you are seeing here today. Vera and Stephan romped around in the sand and played in the water on a beach in Sydney clad in their wedding attire — well, Vera at least. Stephan was in beach-appropriate shorts — and completely exuded happiness as they did so!

Look at how much fun they’re having, their happiness is so infectious! Roland Voraberger and his partner Dani of Vienna-based Photokino.at perfectly captured such natural, relaxed, and genuinely gleeful moments in this delightful e-session (you might remember the duo from their work on Clara & Sam’s 5-Day Wedding and Camping Weekend — Part 1 and Part 2).

Roland says that this was their very first Trash the Dress shoot, and what a wonderful one it was!  He and Dani met Vera and Stephan — also from Vienna — in Sydney, Australia and decided to take photos on a lovely beach that showed the city skyline in the background. Luckily it wasn’t too crowded that day. The shoot itself was completed in an hour as the water was quite cold, especially for Vera. It was a totally new experience for them and it was one that they extremely enjoyed.

And now, on to the eye candy!

Aren’t the photos amazing? You can SO feel the joy in every single shot. It looks like they completely owned the beach too! Let’s meet the beautiful couple:

My name is Vera, I’m an occupational therapist. My husband Stephan works in a media planning agency and we got married last year in September. We are both living in Austrias capital Vienna and have always wanted to have a traditional wedding at a lake in Austria with our families lots of friends from around the world. I’m 30 years old and from beautiful Salzburg. Stephan is 40 years old and is originally from Vienna.

After our wedding we planned to have our honeymoon in Australia and New Zealand. It was a funny coincidence that our friends, photographers Roland and Daniela spent their holidays in Australia at the same time.

This couple is a hoot! Vera’s back to tell us more about the TTD session:

In Austria, TTD is not well known yet  but I thought it was a great and fun way to wear the dress once more and for the last time! We wanted to do something different, and not keep the dress for many years and have it layered with dust. We also wanted to put a series of photos on the wall with the title “the journey of the dress”, beginning with the dressing-up, to the church, the party and then the trash the dress. We were also very lucky to meet Roland Voraberger, our wedding photographer, in Sydney where we chose the perfect location together. I knew I wouldn’t put the dress back on again so the trashing was one more joyful event to wear the dress with joy while celebrating being young at heart.

I LOVE how she said that! And isn’t the “Journey of the Dress” photo series on the wall such a marvelous idea?
