Valerie & Theron’s Sweet & Spunky Chicago E-session

fun Chicago engagement session

The fun-loving Valerie & Theron wanted a super fun & funky e-session in downtown Chicago where their relationship blossomed. The day started with them snuggling in Lincoln Park and then playing at the Pavilion before they headed downtown to dance in the streets (with Val in a custom gorgeous gown!) and sip champagne at Le Colonial. This engagement shoot is a glowing example of what it looks like when a couple comfortably expresses their emotions in front of the camera. Thankfully, the talented Emilia Schobeiri of Emilia Jane Photography captured everything oh-so-beautifully!

Aww, just how sweet & cuddly are they? It’s time we got to know them a little bit better, yes? Lovely Val is here to share their story:

I am a film & TV video editor, currently working in NYC on House Hunters International for HGTV. I’ve been an editor since before ’03 which is when I graduated.  Theron is basically the CIO of a hospital in a small town in Wisconsin.  We met in Chicago 4 1/2 years ago when I had decided to escape NYC to work elsewhere. I had no friends at the time and put an ad on CL for someone to go have sushi with.  Theron responded that he had only recently moved to Chi as well, only 2 months before.  It wasn’t love at first sight, but by the time the chill of October settled over the city and he texted me asking if I wanted pizza, love was in the air. Our first successful date was at a red-lit pizza and wine bar in Northern Chicago, but we remained predominately “just” best friends for the next year.  As the year progressed it found us flying or (more insanely) driving to see each other more and more frequently. Theron is the kindest, gentlest, most honest, and patient (thank God!) person I know.  He truly does love me with his whole heart, and I, him.  We both love to go on long walks — which we did all the time in  Chicago.  In Sheboygan we have done it less, but as I am in NYC, walking is almost a synonym with living here. (We are apart to save for the wedding, but only 1 week till I go back!)

We love, aside from long walks of exploration, riding around on his scooter, dining out, fine dining (of course! we are huge foodies!), cooking together, snuggling, traveling (I can’t wait to show him more of Europe), etc etc.  He sings me silly songs to cheer me up, I write poetry and draw him comic books and read whatever books I’m reading to him when we are on long car rides. We love riding the train and any kind of activity that is new and different to us.

I love how their love for one another completely shines through the photos! Valerie definitely agrees:

Emilia knew (from photos I’d sent her) that I loved wide-angle shots, and she did an awesome job capturing our silliness, our happiness, and our love. She let Theron spin me around, we got to sit in the grass in Lincoln park — which was very important to me as I love nature!  She freaked when I stood on a ledge with Chicago in the background (I like climbing things ^-^),  she let us dance under the El Tracks downtown — and took pix of us in front of Marina City, which is an important landmark for my sister and I.  The fact we ended the session with champagne on Rush and State streets was great as Rush is one of Theron and I’s go-to places when we want to have a snack and people wants. “On State Street, that Great Street, I just have to say – you’ll see things that you won’t find on Broadway!” – Sinatra. 😉

Costume changes, inside and intimate meanings for places, and just a fun and low-key atmosphere made it us.  The fact it was colorful didn’t hurt 🙂
