Certified Poptastic 30: Cool Britannia Wedding Inspiration

I apologize for the recent lack of Sunday posts but here I am now with a longer-than-usual one to make up for it. As the Olympic ceremonies in London are coming to a close in a few hours, I thought some happy and bright Cool Britannia wedding inspiration would make a fun topic for today’s post, yes? Here we go.

Cool Britannia elements you can incorporate in your big day.

Clockwise from left:  London icons (via Foilplay), Keep Calm and Marry On cupcakes (via Clares Cupcakes via The Cupcake Blog); Union Jack cushions & tapestry — photobooth backdrop idea? (via Inside Interior Design); red, white, & blue vintage brooch bouquet (via HairBowsWonderland); Britannia button boutonierre (via IHeartButtonsUK); Rule Britannia pinbacks (via MyButtonBuddy), Bride in tea-length dress with red crinoline  (via HairBowsWonderland)

Some style ideas:

How about taking style inspiration from this awesome London-themed wedding shoot? If you don’t want to don a colored wedding dress, go half-and-half: pair a colored top in blue or red with a full tulle skirt in white. Full post is over at Rock My Wedding.

Red, white, and blue. Here’s a cute look you and your bridesmaids can pull off easily without going over the top with the Britannia theme! Bride’s cocktail-length dress from After Six; Bridesmaid dresses from Alfred Sung. (All are available at The Dessy Group)

As for wedding music, you can’t go wrong with the The Beatles or, for a more contemporary edge, BritPop! My recommended love song? “It Must Be Love“, a song written and originally recorded in 1971 by Labi Siffre later on covered by ska/pop band by Madness. Check out the awesome vid!
