Arianna & Michael’s Romantic & Sexy E-session in the Desert

If you’ve been reading this blog a while, you already know how awesome photog couple JoAnne & Jason Marino of  Imagine Photography are (see their previous features + their Behind the Lens q&a). This is the first time I’m showcasing an engagement by them and oh boy what a spectacular one it is! The moment they showed it to me, there was no way it wasn’t going on the blog!

The Marinos shared that Arianna and Michael are as sexy as they come so when they were asked to photograph their engagement session, they were pretty excited. Here they are to tell us a little bit about the day:

The day started out sunny and clear, but within an hour of our schedule shoot-time, a massive storm was looming in the distance.  We made a few calls and decided to push forward with our plans for the shoot.  We just beat the storm to our location and eventually it moved just to the north of us, only sprinkling lightly as we photographed these two.  We were rewarded by the most brilliant distant clouds and dust storm that made for epic, brooding images.

It totally pays to be fearless photographers! Those looming storm clouds only added to the dreamy, almost unreal mood of the photographs, and here they are without further ado.

I LOVE how symbolic of love, a relationship and marriage this photo is.  How about we meet the lovely couple? Here’s Arianna to share their beautiful love story:

Michael and I both went to the same gym, and he also worked as a security guard there. I would often go to the gym hoping he would be there, and later he told me he did the same. I joked to my friends about what a stalker I was and I told them every day, “Ok, this is the day I’m going to ask him out!” We would have short, awkward conversations while he was making his rounds and I was stretching after my work out. Every time the opportunity to ask him out came up I would chicken out. Eventually, he came up to me and we had a real conversation and made plans to hang out on Memorial Day Weekend. He asked me out for drinks but I made him take me on a real date to see a movie first. So we saw a movie and went out for drinks afterwards. After having some great conversations over drinks, I was smitten.

We dated for several amazing months. He treated me like a princess, and I loved it. He would sit through my favorite shows; we would make dinners together while drinking wine. We shared a love for wine. We had Sunday pajama movie nights. We would have what we call ‘star parties’ (meteor shower watching) and sit outside during thunderstorms to see the lightening. One day, he sent me flowers at work and someone made the comment, “Somebody loves you!” I replied, “I hope so!” Later that day he made me his favorite Italian dish, manicotti. Then I knew something was going on, and sure enough after dinner he said,” I’m in love with you.” And that is when I knew he was the one I’d spend my life with.

The proposal:

Last February, we took a trip to see my family. While we were at my dad’s house, Michael snuck away to ask permission to marry me. Of course, my parents loved him after just a couple days, so my dad approved. Michael asked him where a good place would be to propose (he was looking for a waterfall), my dad had the perfect place in mind. The following day Michael, my sister Kaydrea and I went to check out a place called Burney Falls. While walking the trail to the base of the waterfall, Kaydrea fell behind, Michael and I came to a lookout and stopped to take pictures. Then, he took out a small box from his sweater. I started crying the moment she saw it. He got down on one knee and asked,”Arianna Daisy Sarah Boswell, will you do me the honor of being my wife?” I replied, “Yes!!” and hugged and kissed him. Kaydrea then came down the trail to see the ring and take pictures. It was so nice to have one of my sisters there to share our moment.

Arianna shared a behind-the-scenes look at their e-session experience:

Jason and JoAnne are so good at what they do. I was kind of nervous before we started the shoot but that went away as soon as they started. They make you feel so comfortable, like you are just hanging out with friends. We drove off- road through mud and over hills to the desert spot, which was a blast! Their creativity with the flower in the desert made for an epic shot. We cannot wait to have it hanging in our house! They take risks to get great photos. It was such a fun adventure and we made new friends along the way. We look forward to our wedding day, and having them there to capture all the memorable moments.
