Renee & Keith’s Color-Cuteness-and-Cartoon-filled Bunny-themed Wedding

Happy new week, everyone! Say hello to the lovely Renee & Keith. If you think they seem familiar, that’s because you’ve already seen their adorable downtown Boston e-session + illustrated proposal story on here earlier this year! This cute twosome are very talented illustrators who’ve known each other since their art school days so it was no surprise that their wedding was peppered with lots of quirky original illustrations, creative handmade elements, and unique-to-them details. One of their favorite movies is Pixar’s Up so you’ll find a few nods to the film — specifically via the mailbox and the Adventure Book guestbook.

We have the fabulous Zac Wolf Photography (also no stranger to this site) to thank for this delightful feast for the eyes and here he is to tell us about the event in a nutshell:

Renée & Keith are a very special couple. Two artists that have found each other and fallen in love and are just truly so perfect for each other. They had their wedding at Willowdale Estate which is easily one of my favorite venues north of Boston and they put so much of themselves into the occasion. From a guest book that took a queue from the move “Up” to portraits they drew of their bridal party. There were just so many amazing details, but one that really stands out is their Bunny logo that held strong throughout the big day, including as cake toppers when they were beautifully crocheted by Keith’s sister. DJ Nate from White Label DJ’s kept everyone dancing all night, including a MAJOR polka and money dance and The Danger Booth was a non stop party. What an fantastic crowd and a beautiful wedding. I am so proud to have become friends with these two amazing people and so glad to give them these photos from their big day.

How awesome are the portraits Renee & Keith made of their bridal party? Here’s a closer look at some of them:

Renee also designed all the stationery for their wedding so everything had a cohesive look — aren’t they darling? You may remember the photo on their save the date from their e-session that was featured here in February (don’t miss the cute drawings from Renee’s sketch blog!). Here she is with the back story behind the bunny motif:

We  used personalized illustrations. The “bunny” theme came from an illustration Keith made for me for my birthday a few years ago. We used them on our save the dates…and then dressed them up in a dress and tux for the wedding invitations!

The sweet bunny cake toppers were crocheted by Keith’s sister Kim, and almost everything else was handmade by the couple!

Lovely shot of the lovely gals! Incidentally, sitting next to Renee is her maid of honor Kelly Marcinek, one half of One Eleven Images — a photography duo whose work I’ve already featured many times on this blog! (They also photographed Renee & Keith’s aforementioned e-session)

From this point on I’d like to let the beautiful bride guide you through how they made their wedding their own. Over to you Renee:

Among the ways we made our celebration unique was through music choices. We played the Muppets “Somebody’s Getting Married” right before the procession and made sure to have lots of polkas throughout the night to celebrate our Polish roots!

Even Totoro made an appearance! *squee*

We handmade a lot of the details. I hand twisted all the wire for the escort card holders — if you can’t find something, you can probably make it yourself!

The centerpieces sat on wood slabs that were cut from a downed tree in Keith’s parent’s backyard. We designed and put the rest of it together ourselves using moss, bottles, tiny battery powered lights, lots of glue, and silk flowers. We wanted the centerpieces to look like a bottle of collected fireflies.

Our table numbers also all had little birds on them. Little birds are sort of a signature thing I add to lots of my illustrations, so that was my part!

I also did all the graphic design for our wedding invitations, table numbers, escort cards, ceremony programs, etc. By using the same fonts and colors throughout, we basically “branded” our wedding.

Did you enjoy their wedding and the many artistic personal touches? The couple (and their guests!) had an absolute blast and here they are with some parting insights:

A friend told me to do this on the day of the wedding and it worked: Pick little moments throughout the day and just say “remember this” in your head. Doing this is like taking little snapshots of the day in your mind. It will go by so fast and it’s easy to forget the little things that made your day what it was.
