Lydia & Michael’s Vibrantly Hued Cafe Olé Engagement Session

Lydia & Michael had their first date at a tiny table on the back porch of Cafe Olé, a little Mexican food cafe in downtown Flagstaff, AZ. Some years later, Michael got down on one knee and proposed to Lydia in the same place! Naturally the cafe was a special spot they immediately thought of for their e-session and I love how they coordinated their outfits to go with the vibrant colors. Photographer Renee Kaminski of The R2 Studio (see her previously featured work) was luckily around to beautifully capture their love!

By the way, I think those of you planning a Mexican fiesta-themed wedding will also find inspiration from the restaurant’s decor. Colorful papel picado bunting, ball paper balloons, and papier mache chiles and — for the non-queasy — geckos, will surely add a festive air to your celebration!

Let’s meet the adorable duo. Here’s Lydia to tell us all about herself and Michael:

We are a fun-loving, active, and adventurous couple. Our daily motto is “enjoy every minute.” And we do just that! I work as a surgical tech at Flagstaff Medical Center while continuing on my path to become a nurse.  I completed my first marathon two years ago and have been running ever since.  Michael is a Program Coordinator in the College of Business at Northern Arizona University. Not only does he ride his bicycle to work everyday, rain or snow, his favorite part of the day is his one hour lunch ride.  We met while attending NAU during a summer program where we both worked and have been together ever since.  We truly enjoy every minute we have together and feel so blessed for all the great people and things in our lives.  Our love is simple, unique, and timeless. We are truly blessed to have found each other.

Our E-session was made complete because of our fabulous location – a downtown Mexican Restaurant called Cafe Olé. It was here were we had our first date in June of 2008. I wore a beautiful yellow dress and we sat at a tiny table on the patio and talked for hours while sipping margaritas. A perfect beginning. It then became our favorite local spot.  Then on a beautiful Saturday evening, after I had worked a 13-hour day, we once again sat down to an incredible dinner with delicious margaritas and Michael got down on one knee and proposed.  Cafe Olé officially became our place!  It was the first location we thought of to include in our E-Sesh and it could not have been any better.  Thanks to R2 Studio for bringing out every bright and unique color and corner at Cafe Olé.  A fabulous location was made even better by their talent.

I totally agree! Here are the rest of their lovely e-session pics taken in a field of sunflowers!
