Jessica & Aaron’s Retro Rockabilly and Rave Music E-session

Isn’t this photo just fantastic? Romantic, cinematic, and fantasy-like all at once. And that’s just one photo, wait ’til you see the rest!

I so love that this e-session was able to incorporate Jessica & Aaron’s interests and adorable quirks — from milkshakes to Batman comics to techno music! — and how it all came together awesomely. We have Sabrina Hounshell of Seriously Sabrina Photography to thank for the beautiful images and here she is with a backgrounder on the shoot:

Jessica and Aaron are a fun loving, quirky couple that enjoy reading comic books, records, and listening to rave/techno music. They wanted an engagement session that complimented their interests and something non traditional.

When Jessica emailed me and said the planning of their September wedding has taken a rockabilly twist, I knew that a fun 50’s diner would be a perfect setting for their engagement session. Jessica’s tights covered in cats, leopard print sweater and pinned back hair captured the rockabilly inspiration at the diner and then the activities they enjoy together were captured during an evening at the park with comic books, records, and a little bit of light painting to capture that love of techno/rave music.

These two give new meaning to the word adorable! Pretty Jessica is here to share a little bit about how she and Aaron got together:

My fiance, Aaron, and I met at Western Kentucky University 5 years ago. He was working as a reporter for the college newspaper and asked me to do an interview with him during lunch as a way for us to get to know each other. (I later found out the entire story was a fake!)

On what made their e-session uniquely theirs:

It was very important to us to have non traditional engagement pictures. I really wanted to do a shoot that looked cute but really showed what we were about as a couple. Granted, we are kind of nerdy and bonded through our mutual love of all things Batman during the first few years of dating, which explained the use Batman comics for the park photos. We also share an interest in music and have attended many concerts together. Every Christmas and Birthday we usually buy each other records to help build our collection so it was important to add that feature into the shoot.

Sabrina was awesome to work with! She really listened to what we wanted and helped bring originality to our photos. I want the wedding and engagement pictures to really show who we are as a couple and not your traditional flowers and lace. (not that there is anything wrong with that!)

Huge thanks to Sabrina for sending this fantastic e-session my way, and congratulations to Jessica and Aaron! (I can’t wait to see photos of your wedding too! :))
