Taryn & Joshua’s Romantic Vizcaya E-session (and Epic Banner-tugging Biplane Save the Date)

banner and biplane save the date photo

A so-in-love couple, beautiful photos in an absolutely gorgeous location, and an epic save the date idea? How can I not share this shoot with you?! Without further ado, I’m turning you over to photographer Joe Capasso who’s responsible for the brilliant photos on this spread:

I wanted to do something for this couple that would stand out beyond the usual big cut out wooden letters, or chalk boards announcing a couple’s wedding date.  We’ve all seen that time and time again (especially on Pinterest).  Taryn and Josh both have “big” personalities so I needed an original grand idea that would fit them.  Obviously hiring a pilot to fly by with a banner wasn’t practical in order to get that “perfect” shot I was looking for.  The image is a composite of the original photo taken at Vizcaya in Miami, along with a piece of stretched out saran wrap held up by two lights stands in my studio.  I photographed the saran wrap on white seamless paper and used that to develop a transparent effect in Photoshop.  The plane was photographed separately, and I painted in the smoke in Photoshop using my Wacom pressure-sensitive drawing tablet.

As far as the location — Vizcaya, Miami is easily one of the most beautiful places in Florida.  It’s an epic location, which is another reason why we needed an “epic” save the date idea. Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is the former estate of businessman James Deering.  Vizcaya was built by Deering in the early 1900?s and sits on the Biscayne Bay.  It was modeled after an Italian countryside village.  Now, Miami-Dade County owns the property.  Vizcaya has been used in several mainstream Hollywood movies including Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Bad Boys II, The Money Pit, and Any Given Sunday.

How cute are these two lovebirds? Lovely Tary is here to share how they got together:

MySpace, yes 8 years ago on MySpace is where our story begins. Josh sent me a message and we started talking on MySpace. I was out and about a lot living the college life so I invited him to meet me out with my friends. The picture to the right is from the night we first met! We hit it off and started talking more and he started meeting me out more. He finally asked me out on a first date to Blu Sushi because he knew I loved sushi, even though back then he hated it! I met him at his house and he took me out in the black Corvette to try to impress me.

And here’s Taryn once again with the deets on their e-session:
Josh is all about going big and being different/unlike any one else. So the location was PERFECT! He likes to not be outdone lol.  As for interests and hobbies. Well we own a farm with 11 goats 2 ducks 1 dog 2 donkeys and soon a horse! Josh is in to fast cars and guns. I like being a stay at home mom and I am really into fitness. We like to go out and enjoy life when we can find the time. Otherwise we stay home and enjoy each others company. He is truly my best friend and soul mate :).

Our photographer Joe is sooo creative that he came up with the whole shoot and idea for the save the dates. We were just his “props” haha. I have known Joe for a while and refuse to use anyone else for our pictures.
