Christina & James’ Frolicsome E-session in the Art-and-Graffiti-lined Streets of Williamsburg

Williamsburg, Brooklyn E-session

Christina has lived in Williamsburg all her life and after just 3 months of dating, James moved next door to her! This fun & quirky e-session embodies everything the couple loves about the neighborhood — the vibrant art-and-graffiti lined walls, the modern industrial structures, and the serene waterfront that allowed a glimpse of the Manhattan skyline. The always-fabulous Todd Laffler of Laffler Photography (see his previously featured work) was on hand to capture them at their most playful as they roamed the streets they now both call home. Please enjoy!

How sweet are these two lovebirds? So glad pretty Christina is here to tell us more about how she and James got together:

James and I met in college — it was my first day of freshman year, and his first day of senior year. It was not romantic at all. In fact, he later told me that his first impression of me was that I was a jerk — which is probably the most effective way to not start a relationship. We continued to share a group of mutual friends over the next few years and would catch up from time to time at group events. After about 6 years of this, we finally hung out for the first time on our own and James pretty much spilled his guts to me about how he’s liked me all these years. I didn’t really believe him at first, but as we continued to hang out and talk I couldn’t help but see how perfect we were for each other. It took about 2 weeks and 3 conversations for me to fall in love with him (Good job, James!). We finally started dating, and he asked me to marry him less then a year after.
Dating has been so much fun. We love doing things together — we love music and going to concerts, we find random classes to take (we have a painting class next week!), and we recently got into fishing!

Christina’s back with a backgrounder on the shoot:

We did the e-session in Williamsburg because we love the character of the neighborhood. It’s a hip and happening place now, but I’ve lived there my entire life and have gotten to see it back in its quieter days. I really like this particular area of Williamsburg because it reminds me of what the neighborhood was like before all the new condos and buildings were going up. It was full of factories and warehouses and it was cool because every few streets would have a bit of access to the waterfront. I remember my dad would take me there to watch the fireworks when I was younger. The developed waterfront is beautiful now, as you can probably see from the photos, but I still remember our old, small fenced-up “waterfront” and how amazing it was to be there and get a peek of the city. Williamsburg is home for me, and now for James too! After 3 months of dating, he actually moved next door to me! I became his girl next door, this neighborhood became our stomping ground, and Williamsburg became home in a whole new way.

Aren’t these photos just gorgeous? Not surprisingly, Laffler Photography was named one of  2012’s Top Ten Wedding Photographers in the World by American Photo Magazine and I’m always delighted to have Todd’s fantastic work grace these pages. Christina and James are here to spread some Todd love too:

Todd was amazing to work with! We love that his photos are a little out-of-the-ordinary. It’s different from typical wedding/engagement photography and we love the quirkiness in his work. James and I just remember having a lot of fun and laughing the whole time. At one point James started tearing because he was laughing so hard! During a little break in the session, we got to sit down with Todd for a bite to eat at a local cafe and found that we all share a serious LOVE OBSESSION for Peter Luger’s Steakhouse nearby. I guess it was meant to be!
